Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance creating a City Planning Commission
providing for the appointment of members of said commission,
their terms of office and the powers and duties of such com-
mission.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. There is hereby created in and for Salt
Lake City, Utah, a City Planning Commission to be composed
of not less than nine nor more than fifteen members, one of
whom shall be the Commissioner of Water Supply & Waterworks
of Salt Lake City, who shall be chairman of said commission;
one of whom shall be the City Attorney and one of whom shall
be the City Engineer. The other members shall be appointed
by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City from among the
qualified electors of said city.
When said commission shall have under consideration
any matter relating to, or under the direction or control of
any department of the city government other than the .Department
of Water Supply & Waterworks, the commissioner of such other
department shall be and become a member of said City Planning
Commission and participate in the consideration of such matters.
All appointive members of said commission shall
serve for the regular statutory term provided for all appointive

city officers and shall serve without compensation.

SECTION II. The City Planning Commission shall select,

a vice chairman from among the appointive members of said com-
mission and a secretary who may, or may not, be a member of the
commission.

SECTION III. It shall be the duty of the City Plannin
, IGommission, and it shall have the power, to advise and consult
with and make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, either upon matters being referred to it by
said Board of Commissioners or upon its own motion, upon all
matters, piano and proposals,affecting;
1. The development or-artistic adornment of the city,
parks or boulevards.
public buildings,
2. Zoning of the pity into industrial, business and
residence districts.
3. Location and opening of parks, play gr
ounds and boule-
vards.
4. Btilding restrictions and housing of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City.
The City Planning Commission shall have power to hold
public meetings with persons interested in any matter before it
for the purpose of perfecting any plan before presentation of
same to the Board of Commissioners.
SECTION IV. In the opinion of the Board of Commisaion{-
ars, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the in-
habitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective
immediately.
SECTION V. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
