AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 30-1-9 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, relating to special police officers. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 30-1-9 of the Revised Ordinaces of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, relating to special police officers, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows: "Sec. 30-1-9. Special police officers. The chief of police, with the advice and consent of the board of commissioners, may at any time appoint special patrolmen to serve without pay from the city for such services; said appointments to be made for a period not to exceed one year from the date thereof, and subject to revocation and removal prior thereto, as herein provided. "The city recorder shall issue to each special police officer so appointed a certificate of appointment which shall designate whether the appointee is authorized to act as such special patrol- man throughout the city or at a particular place within the juris- diction of the city and if at any particular place, the place shall be designated in such certificate. The city recorder shall keep a book containing the names of such appointees, the date of appoint- ment and the date of expiration of said appointment. "The chief of police shall exercise general supervision over such special police officers, and he may, with the consent of the board of commissioners, at any time remove such officers and revoke the police powers conferred upon any special police officer before the period for which he was appointed has expired, without charges being preferred and without trial, hearing or opportunity to be heard, whenever in their opinion the good of the service will be subserved thereby, and such removal and revocation of authority shall be final and conclusive." SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City, Utah, that this ordinance become effective immediately. 10 - 2 - SECTION 3.
