ORDINANCE .
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
on all streets in the territO y lying between the north line of
Arapahoe Avenue and the south line of American Avenue, and the eas
line of McKinley Street and the Jordan River, and 17.51 feet on th
east side of Goshen Street between Indiana end Wasatch Avenues,
with the exception of Indiana Avenue from Cheyenne Street to the
Jordan River, the east side of Eleventh West Street between Indian.
and Arapahoe Avenues, the west side of Emery Street between Indian:
and Arapahoe Avenues, the east side of Glendale Street from Eighth
South Street to the Jordan River, the north side of Eighth South
Street from Glendale Street to the Jordan River, and the south sid
of Arapahoe Avenue between Emery and Eleventh West Streets, in
Sidewalk Districts Nos. 21 and 41, for the construction of cement
sidewalks.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTIONT 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax an.

This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing
cement sidewalks four (4) feet wide and four (4) inches thick upon
the y.Juc erty bereiribefcre end hereinafter described to be especial
affected and benefited by said im rovement, and it is hereby adjudged,
determined and established that said property will be especially
benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and
said parcels of land are hereby assessed at en equal and uniform
rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portions
of said streets fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25)
feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed
upon said parcels of land is fourteen thousand nine hundred fifty
and 69/100 ( 14,950.69) dollars, or 60705376/100,000,000 ( 0.60705 76)
dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for said side-
walks, there being 24628.28 feet of abutting property within the
boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said
districts, which is the total cost and cost per front foot of said
sidewalks, according to the contract entered into for the perform." e

a depth of twenty-five (25i feet back from said streets, and to
collect said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each in-
stallment is due, towwit; One-fifth thereof one year after the ap-
proval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the pay
meat for such improvement; one-fifth thereof in two years after
such approval; one-fifth thereof in three years after such approval;
one-fifth thereof in four years after such approval; and one-fifth
thereof in five years after such approval. One or more of said in-
stallments, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole
special tax may be paid at any time within thirty days after the
approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax, without
interest. In the event of any installment or the interest afore-
said, not being paid on the date the same becomes due, the whole
amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said installment and
interest are due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw
interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum until sale of the
property assessed; provided, one or more installments, in the order

in which they are payable, or the whole special tax unpaid, msy be
paid on the day any installment becomes due, by paying the amount
thereof and interest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
