'aeILWAY COMPANY, a corporation, to construct and operate a steam
and electric railroad hroegh Salt neke City.
Be it ordained by the. City Council of halt inke City, Utah:
Sec. 1. That the Salt Lake a anden aailway Connally, a cor-
poration, its succeesors and asetigno, have the authority and
consent of the City Council, and the nermiosion Ia hereby grant-
ea it, for the construction, naintainance and operation of a
single or double track, electric or other motive power, standard
gauae railroad, ass lereinatter specified, provided: that during
all the tie necessary for the oenatruction of such road and all
and any partthereof, the said grantee shall have the privilege
of operating oars and trainn thereon by the ace of steam power;
together with all necessary and convenient switches, eyes and
turnouts, sidetracks and oroes-over tracks, and the erection of
a line of poles, or two.lines of poles , when neceasary, carrying
telephone, telegraph, trolley and transmission wires, for the
transportation of passengers, freight, express and mail nattorj
upon the following toads and. streete of Gait Lake City, to-wit:
Commencing at the property line near the North aaet
Corner of Lot 1, Block 64, Plat A, Salt Telco City agrvey,
and mining theme easterly on a curve to the center line
of aecona 'nest atreet,-thence aouth of Second Teat etreet
to Fourth South Street, thence aaat on. Fourth eolith atreet
to West Temple atreet, thence North of teot Temple atract
to Market Street, thence easterly on a curve to the nact
end of Market ntreet, to an intersection with grantee's
aro:lent line of track; also, easterly and southerly from
the end of arantee's line of track at the east end of Mar-
ket Street to and upon Main atreet, thence houth along Main
Street to Fourth Gouth Street, thence Vest along Fourth
South Street to the intersection of grantee's line heroin-
before described at West Temple atroet; also, commenoing
at the South Line of Third. South atreet at the intoraection
of First West atreet, thence South on 'irat "test Street to
the Gouth Boundary line of Salt Lake City.
Sox. 2. All tracks cull be laid so as to conform it the
grades of tho street at the tine, and :Mall be altered cc cc to
conform to such grade as the City Council may from tine to tine
establish.

terfer with the street for public sae, and, if reqeirea, shall

Sec. G. The right hereby conferred shell expire on the
lot day of July in the year one thousand nine hundred and.

or assigns, covenant and agree-to save the said city harmless
from and against any liability, loss,eost or expense or damage
pf any nature arising out of the deedult or misconduct of said
railway company', or which may occur in'or by reason of the con
struction or operation of said railway, and to indemnify ani
repay said city for any loss, cost or expense or damage of any
kind which :nay be sustained by reason of

for any loss, default, misconduct, accident or injury shall be
recovered against said city, the recovery thereof, and the judge.

grantee, its successors or assigns, and conclusive as to the
liability of the latter to the former.
see.10. That whenever the city Council shall find it
necessary or desirable to grant any other railroad company a
franchise over any of the streets herein granted, the grantee
herein shall allow running arrangements over grantee's tracks to
such other company making equitable payment for constructing,
maintaining and operating the portion of grantee's track so used.
See.11. That if thin grant with the conditions herein
contained, be not accepted in writing by said erantao witeln.

this franchise within six months and completed within three \�
