AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Subsections (e), (h) and (I) of Section
20-2-102 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, as amended
by Bill No. 76 of 1958, relating to the license fees for vehicles operating
upon the streets of Salt Lake City.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
(Utah:
SECTION 1 . That subsections (e), (h) and (I) of Section 20-2-102
Iof the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, as amended by Bill
!No. 76 of 1958, relating to the license fees for vehicles operating upon
the streets of Salt Lake City, be, and the same hereby are, amended to read
as follows;
"Sec. 20-2-102. * * *
"(e) Every vehicle licensed under this section shall
have a plate fastened to the front thereof in such manner
that the same may be plainly seen, said plate to be fur-
nished by the license assessor and collector and winich
plate shall bear a numerical number within the limits of
the gross laden weight for which the vehicle is licensed
as provided in subsection (d) hereof.
"(h) EXEMPTIONS AND EXCEPTIONS. No fee or plate here-
under shall be required for the operation of any vehicle
or equipment upon the streets of Salt Lake City when:
µa (1) Such vehicle merely passes through Salt Lake City;
(2) Such vehicle is used exclusively in inter-city or
I\J inter-state commerce.
"(1) RECIPROCAL AND PROPORTIONAL AGREEMENTS. With the
view of advancing reciprocal or proportional agreements
which will promote inter-city commerce and produce equity
in regulating vehicles using the city streets, the city
license assessor may, with the approval of the Board of
Commissioners of Salt Lake City, enter into reciprocal
agreements with the proper officials of other cities, as
may be deemed equitable and proper in promoting inter-city
commerce and in protecting the welfare and interest of Salt
Lake City; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that no such reciprocal and
proportional agreement shall require Salt Lake City to
recognize any vehicle license granted by any other municipality
in lieu of the vehicle license required hereunder when the
vehicle so licensed is used in any capacity with a business
for the transportation of property or persons, the major portion
of which is conducted within Salt Lake City.

SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is
necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt Lake
City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
