AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 51-2-26 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to Family for zoning purposes
and amending Section 51-17-1, by adding thereto a new subsection (8)
relating to single family dwelling rentals.
Be it ordained.. by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 51-2-26 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to Family for zoning purposes, be,
and the same hereby is, amended as follows:
Sec. 51-2-26. Family. "Family" shall mean one (1) person
living alone or two (2) or more persons related by blood,
marriage, or adoption, according to the laws of the State of
Utah; or a group not to exceed three (3) unrelated persons
living together as a single housekeeping unit for which a law-
fully located off-street parking space is provided for each
such person; such group to be distinguished from a group occupy-
ing a boarding house, lodging house, club, fraternity or hotel.
SECTION 2. That Section 51-17-1 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to Use Regulations in "R-5" District,
be, and the same hereby is amended by adding thereto a new subsection (8)
relating to single family dwelling rentals, to read as follows:
Sec. 51-17-1. Use regulations. * * *

(8) Single family dwelling rentals. In a single dwelling,
the renting of rooms to not more than four persons; provided,
lawfully off-street parking space is provided on a ratio of one
parking space for every two persons.
SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioner of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
10th day of September, 1975.
