AN ORDINANCE AMENDING subsections (2) and (3) of Section 100-1-26
of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to
the offering of animals as premiums and novelties and the sale and
keeping of pet turtles.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That subsections (2) and (3) of Section 100-1-26 of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the
offering of animals as premiums and novelties and the sale and keeping
of pet turtles, be, and the same hereby is, amended as follows:
Sec. 100-1-26. Sale of animals. (1) * * *
(2) Premiums and novelties. It shall be unlawful for any
person to offer as a premium, prize, award, novelty, or incentive
to purchase merchandise, any live animal. Nothing herein shall
be construed to prohibit the offering or sale of animals in con-
junction with the sale of food or equipment designed for the
care and keeping of such animals.
(3) Pet turtles. It shall be unlawful to raise or sell any
Pseudemys Scripta-Elegans, or P. troosti family Testudinidae,
"pet turtles".
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the
inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective
immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
