Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance requiring the payment of a license by temporary
or transient merchants, and by hawkers.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
Mabee City, Utah:
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpo-
ration, or for any agent of any person, firm or corporation, to
engage in business in the City of Salt Lake as a temporary or
transient merchant, or as a hawker, without first obtaining a
license so to do, as herein provided.
SECTION 2. Any person, firm or corporation, or any agent of
any person, firm or corporation, who shall sell or offer for sale
any goods, wares or merchandise in or from any temporary location,
in any store-room, stall, tent, building, structure, stand or other
place, and who shall not have engaged such location for the purpose
� o establishing,a permanent business therein for a greeter period
thin Lg$ , shall be deemed a temporary or tran-
sient merchant for the purposes of this ordinance; an he lio:i:e

fee for engaging in such business shall be the sum o `�'�
dollars per day, payable in advance for each day such business
shall continue.
SECTION 3. Any person selling or offering for sale any article
or thing, except newspapers, from a stand, wagon, door-way or place
in or abutting upon any street or alley, or in or upon any public or
open ground, or any person who shall make public outcry, or blow

horns, whistle, ring bells or make any other noise, or give any
musical or other entertainment to attract notice or custom to his
wares, wherever the same may be sold, shall be deemed a hawker for
the purposes of this ordinance; and it shall be unlawful for any
hawker to carry on his business in Salt ake City unless he shall
pay a license fee of /C";r" jdo ars per day, in advance.
SECTION 4. Nothing in this ordinance dontained shell be
construed Ss requiring a license hereunder from vendors in the
public markets est$blished in Sall Lake City by and under authorit,
; of the ordinance of said City passed March 26, 1914; nor to con-
fliot with the provisions of Section 871 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City of 1913, as amended by an ordinance passed by
the Board of Commissioners September 4, 1913, and by an ordinance
passed by said Board of Commissioners December 16, 1913.
SECTION b. Any person violating any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be punished by a fine
in any sum not exceeding fifty dollars, or by imprisonment in the
City Jail for a period not longer than thirty days. The court may
in imposing a fine, enter as a part of the judgment, that in de-
fault of the payment of the fine, the defendant shall be imprisone
in the City Jail for a period not exceeding thirth days.
SECTION 6. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of
ordinances and resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repeals.
to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 7. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
