An ordinance amending and re-enacting Section 400 of the Re-
♦ised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1903.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 400 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City of 1903, be, and the same hereby is amended and re-enacted
so as to read as follows:
SECTION 400. VEHICLES. It shall be unlawful for any per-
son, firm or corporation, to engage in the business of hackman,
passenger carrier, drayman, carter, omnibus driver, piano mover,
expressman or cabman upon the streets of Salt Lake City without
first obtaining a license so to do.
For such license to carry passengers there shall be paid
a semi-annual license tax, which shall be paid into the City
Treasury semi-annually in advance, the amounts of money as ,
follows:
For a license to run an omnibus $12.50
For a license to run a passenger vehicle drawn
by two or more horses - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 10.00
For a license to run a passenger vehicle drawn
by one horse- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ,7.50
For a license to run an automobile carrying
not more than four persons- - - - - - - - - - - - 15.00
For a license to run an automobile carrying
more than four persons- - - - - - - - - - - - - - '20.00
For a license to run a vehicle for carrying
express matter, such vehicle being drawn
by one horse 5.00
For a license to run a vehicle for carrying
express matter, such vehicle being drawn by
two or more horses- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 6.00
And a license in due form shall be issued by the proper
authority, to such person, firm or corporation therefor.
Every such person, firm or corporation, w;ao shall engage
in the business of drayman, carter, piano mover, expressman or
other freight carrier, shall pay into the City Treasury there-
for an annual license tax for each calendar year, or for any
part of the same, the amounts of money following,, to-wit:

of freight, such vehicle to be drawn by
one horse - - - - - - $10.00
For a license to run a vehicle for the carrying
of freight, such vehicle to be drawn by
two or more horses 20.00
/7 For a license to run a vehicle for the carrying
; ^ of pianos exclusively, such vehicle to be drawn

For a license to run a vehicle-for the carrying
of pianos exclusively, such vehicle;belong drawn
by two or more horses 20.00
, For a license to run a vehicle .for-carrying
furniture, or a vehicle for moving,housihold

Which sum;,{{,or sums, shall become due and payable, and
`` " % shall be paid e'9 aforesaid, in advance, on the second day of
January in each year; provided, that in any case, where a li-
cense shall be issued after the beginning, and during the time
of such calendar year, there snail be paid a whole year's li-
cense for such part of such year as aforesaid, and such license
when issued, shall be effectual only until the said second day
of January next ensuing after the issuance of the same.
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
