AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of property
in Lighting District No. 7, for the purpose of providing for the in-
stallation of arc lamps.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon
the property hereinafter described in Lighting District No. 7, for the
purpose of providing for the installation of arc lamps, to-wit:
In Lots 5 and 6 of Blk. 51, Lots 5 to 8 incl. of Blk.
52, Lots 5 and 6 of Blk. 53, Lots 1, 3 and 4 and 2 of Blk. 56,
Lots 1 and 2 of Blk. 57 and Lots 1 to 4 incl. of Blk. 58, Plat A,
Salt Lake City Survey, abutting on both sides of 3d South street
from West Temple to 2d East streets in Salt Lake City, Utah.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of providing for the
installation of arc lamps (said lamps to be one hundred twenty-six
(126) in number; fourteen (14) ornamental iron standards on each block
in said district (seven standards to be on each side of each block) each
standard to carry three inverted type ornamental 6.6 ampere luminous
arc lamps), said lamps to be illuminated by electric current; said
standards to be approximately 110 feet apart, and to be supplied with
electric current for the illumination of the same each night from
fifteen minutes before dark until midnight, four (4) lamps in each
block, however, to be lighted all night (the cost of installation of the
all night lamps being $3088.06 and same to be paid for by the city)

the circuits for the installation of said system of lamps to be

underground, and the portions of said streets opposite the pro-
! perty hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially
affected and benefited by said improvement and it is hereby ad-
judged, determined and established that said property will be
( especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby
levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal
and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon
land to the entire depth back therefrom and t7,e tax hereby levied
and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is Twenty-nine
thousand Three Hundred Thirty-six and 53/100 ($29336.53) dollars
for Seven and 464766/1000000 ($7.464766) dollars per front or linear
1foot of abutting property, there being 3930.0 feet abutting said
1portion of said improvement and the cost of which installation

and the property benefited thereby is hereinafter set out, and

according to the contract entered into for the performance of said
' work and making said improvement with Utah Power & Light Company,
[ dated the 6th day of January, 1921, and the City Treasurer is

provisions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned:
The north side of Lots 5 and 6 of Blk. 51; the north
Hide of Lots 5 to 8 incl. of Blk. 52; the north side of Lots 5 and
6 of Blk. 53; the south side of Lots 1, 3 and 4, the south side
of the east 85 feet and the south side of the west 50 feet of
1Lot 2, Blk. 56; the south side of Lots 1 and 2 of Blk. 57; and
' the south side of Lots 1 to 4 incl. of Blk. 58, Plat A, Salt Lake
[ City Survey, as the same are shown upon the official plats of
said city to the entire depth back from said streets, and to
[ collect said tax.
1 SECTION II. That the assessment list made by the City
Treasurer, as corrected, approved and completed by the Board of

Equalization and Review of the property described in Section I of j
this ordinance in Lighting District No. 7 of Salt Lake City for the
purpose of providing for the installation of arc lamps, is hereby
confirmed, and the assessments made and returned in said completed
lists, and the report of the Board of Equalization and Review to
the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, are hereby ratified,!
approved and confirmed.
SECTION III. Said tax shall be payable in three equal
yearly installments as provided by law and ordinance. In the even
Zany installment is not paid on the day the same becomes due, the
'whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said installment
is due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw interest at
the rate of twelve per cent per annum until the sale of the pro-
perty assessed.
SECTION IV. This ordinance shall take effect one day
after its first publication.
