Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION L. That Sections 5-4-22, 5-8-1, 5-9-14, 5-9-15, 5-9-16, 5-9-17, 5-11-3, 5-12-5 and 5-14-5 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the Department of Building and Housing, be, and the same hereby are amended as follows: Sec. 5-4-22. Fees for examination and license. The fees for steam engineer or boiler operator examination and license shall be as follows: Steam engineer—unlimited $10.00 Steam engineer—limited 10.00 Boiler operator—high pressure 7.50 Duplicate license 2.00 Renewal of license prior to expiration 5.00 Renewal of license to one year after expiration . . 10.00 Late renewal (plus $2.00 each late year, not to exceed three years.) Sec. 5-8-1. Demolition fees. A fee for each demolition permit shall be paid to the city treasurer as follows: A. Single story residential building minimum . . $10.00 Each additional floor or story 5.00 B. Hotels, apartments, commercial, industrial, warehouses, schools, theaters, gymnasiums, etc. Single story building to and including 2000 square feet 10.00 Each additional 2000 square feet of single story, or fraction thereof 5.00 Each additional floor or story; 1 the fee determined above Accessory buildings demolished and cleared at the same time as general demolition project; per floor or story 5.00 (Service garages, equipment rooms, heating plants, etc;) Wings, annexes, etc; with exposed walls shall be separate fees. 110 -2- Sec. 5-9-14. Residential electrical fees. The fees for elec- trical permits for the installation of electrical materials of residences (including apartment buildings) shall be paid to the city treasurer before the permit is valid: (1) For issuing the permit $ 3.00 (2) The minimum electrical permit fee for new construction 10.00 (3) The square foot area of single family dwellings, as determined from the building permit, shall establish an electrical permit fee as follows: up to 1500 square feet per square foot . . . 0.02 in excess of 1500 square feet 30.00 plus 1$ per square foot above 1500 square feet. (4) Electrical permit for renovation of electri- cal systems in existing building 15.00 (5) Owner's electrical permit on existing dwelling, not including main service . . . . 10.00 (6) Owner's electrical permit on existing buildings including main service 15.00 (7) Owner's electrical permit on new buildings, including main service, shall be computed the same as the contractor's fees. (8) Inspection to advise on and appraise electrical work in existing dwellings (consulting) 15.00 (9) Electrical permit for multiple unit dwell- ings (excluding transient occupancies such as motel and hotel accommodations which are classed as commercial) shall be: the first three units (per square feet) . . . 0.02 units four through ten (per unit) 7.00 units eleven and above (per unit) 3.50 (10) Projects including multiple buildings of multiple dwelling units shall be computed for each separate building as though stand- ing alone. (11) A power to panel permit 7.50 Sec. 5-9-15. Fees for temporary metering. The fees for electrical permits for temporary metering and service facilities shall be $7.50 per hundred amperes of load. Sec. 5-9-16. Commercial and industrial fees. The fees to be paid to the city treasurer for electrical permits covering work in commercial and/or industrial properties shall include required inspections and shall be computed as follows: (1) For issuing the permit $ 3.00 (2) The minimum electrical permit fee for new construction 10.00 110 -3- (3) For new services, changes of services, alterations or repairs of 600 volt capacity or less service entrance equipment, fees shall be computed in accordance with the following table: 100 amp. capacity $ 5.00 over 100 amp. capacity but not over 200 amp. capacity 7.50 for each additional 100 amp. capacity or fraction thereof 2.00 (4) Fees for installation or sub-feeders, alterations, or repair or sub-feeders and including supply taps from sub-feeders, shall be computed separately in accordance with the following table of breakers or fuses: 30 amp. capacity or less 0.50 each over 30 amp. capacity but not over 60 amp. capacity 1.00 each over 60 amp. capacity but not over 100 amp. capacity 2.00 each for each additional 100 amp. capacity above 100 amp. (or fraction thereof) . . . . 2.00 each Rating of the circuit breakers or switches shall be used for all computations with no differentials as to number of poles. (5) Fees for installation of circuits of sub-circuits, alteration or repair of circuits or sub-circuits shall be computed separately in accordance with the table in (2) above. (6) The installation of transformers shall be subject to inspection fees when such transformers are an integral part of the consumer's distribution system. Such fees shall be in addition to the regular system inspection fees and shall be com- puted in accordance with the following table: no fees shall be charged for transformers of 50 volts or less. transformers with 240 volts or less secon- dary 20.00 transformers with more than 240 volts but not greater than 600 volt secondary 20.00 transformers with more than 600 volts but not greater than 2300 volt secondary . . . . 50.00 transformers with more than 2300 volt secondary 75.00 Sec. 5-9-17. Maximum fees chargeable. Electrical permit fees shall be computed on the schedules set forth in this chapter and shall be paid prior to beginning electrical work; however, no fee charged in accordance with the foregoing schedule shall exceed the following amounts as determined by Building and Housing Plan Examiner, for each electrical project or installation: (1) Where the completely installed price of the electrial installation, including labor, materials and taxes is less than $12.00 - no permit is required. (2) Where such price is more than $12.00 but not more than $10,000.00 - maximum permit fee shall be $100.00. (3) Where such price is more than $10,000.00 but not more than $50,000.00 - $lC10.00 plus 1 of 1% of all over $10,000.00. 11_0 -4- (4) Where such price is more than $50,000.00 but not more than $250,000.00 - $300.00 plus 2/10 of 1% of all over $50,000.00. (5) Where such price is more than $250,000.00 - $700.00 plus 1/10 of 1% of all over $250,000.00 Sec. 5-11-3. Existing hoursing inspection fee. The housing inspection fee for existing residential buildings shall be as follows: minimum fee $15.00 multiple - unit buildings initial inspection for first unit 15.00 inspection of each additional unit within the same building 5.00 Sec. 5-12-5. Mechanical permit fees. Any person desiring a permit required by this code shall at the time of filing an application therefore pay a fee as required by this section to the city treasurer before permit is valid. (1) For the issuance of each permit $ 3.00 (2) For the installation or relocation of each forced-air or gravity type furnace or burner including ducts or vents attached to such appliance up to and including 200,000 BTU's . 5.00 (3) For the installation or relocation of each forced-air or gravity type furnace or burner including ducts or vents attached to such appliance over 200,000 BTU's to and includ- ing 300,000 BTU's 10.00 (4) For the installation or relocation of each forced-air or gravity type furnace or burner including ducts or vents attached to such appliance over 300,000 BTU's to and including 1,000,000 BTU's 20.00 (5) For the installation or relocation of each forced-air or gravity type furnace or burner including ducts or vents attached to such appliance over 1,000,000 BTU's 20.00 for each additional 500,000 BTU's or part thereof 5.00 (6) For the installation or relocation of each floor furnace including vent 4.00 (7) For the installation or relocation of each suspended heater, recessed wall heater or floor mounted unit heater, up to and includ- ing 200,000 BTU's 5.00 (8) For the installation or relocation of each suspended heater, recessed wall heater or floor mounted unit heater, over 200,000 BTU's and up to and including 300,000 BTU's . . . . 10.00 (9) For the installation or relocation of each suspended heater, recessed wall heater or floor mounted unit heater, over 300,000 BTU's. 20.00 (10) For the installation, relocation or replace- ment of each appliance vent installed and not included in an applicance permit 3.00 110 -5- (11) For the repair of, alteration of or addition to each heating appliance, refrigeration unit, cooling unit, absorption unit or each heating, cooling, absorption or evaporative cooling system, including alteration of controls regulated by this code, up to $500.00 contract value $ 4.00 (12) For the repair of, alteration of or addition to each heating appliance, refrigeration unit, cooling unit, absorption unit or each heating, cooling, absorption or evaporative cooling system, including installation of controls regulated by this code greater than $500.00 contract value 20.00 (13) For the installation or relocation of each boiler or compressor, to and including three horsepower, or each absorption system to and including 200,000 BTU's, 5.00 (14) For the installation or relocation of each boiler over 200,000 BTU's to and including 300,000 BTU's 10.00 (15) For the installation or relocation of each boiler over 300,000 BTU's to and including 1,000,000 BTU's 20.00 (16) For the installation or relocation of each boiler over 1,000,000 BTU's to and including 2,00C,000 BTU's 30.00 (17) For the installation or relocation of each boiler over 2,000,000 BTU's 30.00 for each additional 500,000 BTU's or part thereof 5.00 (18) For each air handling unit to and including 10,000 cubic feet per minute, including ducts attached thereto 3.00 NOTE: This fee shall not apply to an air handling unit which is a portion of a factory assembled appliance, cooling unit, evaporative cooler or absorption unit for which a permit is required elsewhere in this code. (19) For each air handling unit over 10,000 cubic feet per minute 5.00 (20) For each evaporative cooler other than port- able type up to 6,000 cubic feet per minute . . 5.00 (21) For each evaporative cooler other than port- able type, more than 6,000 cubic feet per minute 20.00 (22) For each ventilation fan connected to a single duct 2.00 (23) For each ventilation system which is not a portion of any heating or air conditioning system authorized by a permit 3.00 (24) For the installation of each hood which is served by mechanical exhaust, including the ducts for each unit 3.00 .10 -6- (25) For the installation or relocation of each domestic type incinerator $ 5.00 (26) For the installation or relocation of each commerical or industrial type incinerator . . . 20.00 (27) For each appliance or piece of equipment regulated by this code but not classed in other appliance categories, or for which no other fee is listed in this code 3.00 (28) For the installation or relocation of cooling towers: 11/2 horsepower up to and including 4 horsepower or tons 10.00 41/2 horsepower up to and including 10 horsepower or tons 15.00 11 horsepower or tons and over 25.00 (29) For the purpose of calculating the rate capacity in tons, the tonage shall be con- sidered not less than the following: a. Total maximum BTU per hour of capacity of the installation divided by 12,000; or b. The name plate horsepower of any compressor prime mover unit or for any air conditioning installation; or c. 2/3 of the nameplate horsepower of b above, for any refrigeration installation. (30) For the installation or relocation of compressor or absorption systems: 1' horsepower to and including 4 horsepower or ton 5.00 4 horsepower to 5 horsepower 7.00 5 horsepower to 6 horsepower 9.00 6 horsepower to 7 horsepower 11.00 7 horsepower to 8 horsepower 13.00 8 horsepower to 9 horsepower 15.00 9 horsepower to 10 horsepower 17.00 10 horsepower and up 17.00 for each additional horsepower 1.50 Maximum fee shall not exceed $250.00 per unit. Sec. 5-14-5. Plumbing permit fees. Before a permit shall be valid, permit fees shall be paid to the city treasurer as follows: For issuing each permit $ 3.00 For reissuing permit due to incorrect information . . 3.00 For each plumbing fixture or trap roughed in for installation or relocation 2.00 Change, alteration or replacement of soil, waste or vent pipe 2.00 Each roof drain installed inside building 2.00 Each refrigeration drain and each safe drain discharged direct or indirect into the building drain 2.00 Each water softener or conditioning device 2.00 Each water heater 3.00 Each settling or grease trap 5.00 Each pool for roof drainage 3.00 Each store, restaurant or home appliance or device connected to the culinary water supply and/or building drainage system 2.00 Each vacuum breaker or backflow device on tanks, etc. 2.00 Each air conditioning device discharging into the building drainage system 2.00 For each lawn-sprinkler control valve system on any one meter including backflow devices 5.00 110 -7- Fire extinguishing systems shall be paid to the city treasurer as follows: Underground piping $10.00 For hydrants on private property, each 5.00 For dry standpipe, each 5.00 plus each outlet 1.00 For wet standpipe, each 5.00 plus each hose cabinet 1.00 Automatic fire sprinklers in range hood or vent . . . . 3.00 For fire sprinkler systems of 1 to 100 sprinkler heads . 20.00 For fire sprinkler systems exceeding 100 sprinkler heads 20.00 plus each sprinkler head in excess of 100 heads . . . 0.05 maximum charge 75.00 For water service and distributing piping 4.00 SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect on July 1, 1976.
