AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24B of TITLE 51, of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, by adding thereto a new
section to be known as Section 51-24B-6, relating to conditional
uses for outdoor theatres.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 24B of title 51 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to Commercial C-3A District,
be, and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto a new section
to be known as Section 51-24B-6, relating to conditional uses for
outdoor theatres, to read as follows:
"Conditional uses. In a Commercial 'C-3A' District the
Board of Adjustment may permit as a conditional use the
following:
"(1) An outdoor theatre provided the screens are so
located as not to be visible from any adjoining street or
residential area and that the entrance and exit drive-
ways and the box office are so located that a traffic
problem will not be incurred on any adjoining public street.
The Board may refuse to approve any conditional use if it
is found that such development would not be in keeping with
the surrounding area or would create undue traffic problems.
In authorizing such a conditional use the Board of Adjust-
ment may impose any conditions it finds necessary to protect
against traffic problems and to protect the character of the
area in which the development is to be located."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of
Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first pub-
lication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 11th day of September , 1974.
