Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Title 46 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, designated as the Salt Lake City Traffic Code, be, and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto a new article to be known as Article 21, regulating parking of vehicles on the area of the City and County Building grounds, known as Washington Square, to read as follows: ARTICLE 21. PARKING OF VEHICLES ON CITY AND COUNTY BUILDING GROUNDS. Sections: 285. Parking of vehicles on city and county building grounds. 286. Unlawful to park. Sec. 285. Parking of vehicles on city and county building grounds. That part of the area of the city and county building grounds, known as Washington Square, adjacent to and immediately east of the city and county building is hereby reserved between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, for the parking of vehicles by the elected officials of Salt Lake City and County, as such officials may from time to time be elected, or by such persons as may be designated by the respective boards of commissioners, the city officials and designated persons to occupy the north one half, the county officials and designated persons to occupy the south one half. The various parking stalls shall be designated by appropriate signs, and thereafter maintained by the commissioner of parks and public property of Salt Lake City, as approved by the respective board of commissioners. Sec. 286. Unlawful to park. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person, other than the elected officials or designated persons re- ferred to in Section 285, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. of any day, except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, to park any vehicle in any parking stall designated by a sign for use by an elected official or designated person as provided in Section 285. 113 - 2 - (b) It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. of any day, except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, at any place on the said city and county building grounds, except such places as may be metered or as shall be reserved for parking and so designated by appropriate sign and by the person designated by such sign. SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is neces- sary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City, Utah, that this ordinance become effective immediately.
