114 of 1910 - Ordinance 114 of 1910 – Sidewalk Extension No. 136, Second Partial Estimate. AJ AN ORDINANCE . 1 An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property on . all streets within the district bounded on the north by the center line of Fifth South Street, on the east by the U. S. Military Reser- vation, on the south by the south aide of Sixth South Street, an d on the west by the east side of Ninth East Street, in Sidewalk Districts Nos. 22 and 23, for the construction of cement sidewalks. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and provide for the asse:;sment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Sidewalk Districts Ros. 22 and 23, for the construction of cement sidewalks, to-wit: In Lots 2, 3, 5 and 6, Block 14; 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 15; 2, 3 and 4, Block 16; 11 to 18, inclusive, Douglas Piece Subdivision, Block 14, Plat "F", abutting on the south side of Fifth South Street between Eleventh East and Thirteenth East Streets; on both sides of Thirteenth East Street between Fifth South and Sixth South Streets; and on both sides of Elizabeth Street between Fifth South and Sixth South Streets, This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing cement sidewalks upon the property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that said property will ble especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portions of said streets fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to he assessed upon said parcels of land is three thousand five hundred sixty-eight and 50/100 ($3,568.50) dollars; two thousand nine hundred twenty and 50/100 ( 2,920.50) dollars, or one and 18/100 ($1.18) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for sidewalks six (6)feet wide and four (4) inches thick, there being 2475 feet abutting said portion of said improvement; and six hundred forty-eight 0648.00) dollars, or one 01.00) dollar per front or linear foot of I ^ 1 -2- 1 abutting property for sidewalks four (4) feet wide and four (4) inohejs thick, there being 648 feet of abutting property within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said districts, 1 which is the total cost and cost per front foot of said sidewalks, aq- cording to the contract entered into for the performanoe of said work and making said improvement with J. D. Hanley, dated the 25th day of April, 1910, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned: Six Foot Sidewalks. The north side of Lots 5 and 6, Block 14; the north side of Lots 5, 6, 7 and 8, the east side of Lots 1 and 8, Block 15; the west side of Lots 2, 3 and 4, Block 16, Plat "F". Four Foot Sidewalks. The west side of Lots 11 to 18, inclusive, Douglas Place Subdivi- sion, Block 14; the east side of the west 297 feet of Lots 2 and 3, Block 14, Plat "F", Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shown upo the official peat■ of said city to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said streets, and to collect said tax. SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five equ 1 yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid at the ra e of six per cent per annum payable at the time each installment is du , to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the approval of the ordina ce confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such improvement; 1 one-fifth thereof in two years after such approval; one-fifth thereof in three years after such approval; one-fifth thereof in four years after such approval; and one-fifth thereof in five years after such approval. One or more of said installments, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax may be paid at any time within thirty days after the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy cf the tax, without interest. In the event of any installment or the in- terest aforesaid, not being paid on the date the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax uhpaid at the time said installment -3- and interest are due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw inF terest at the rate of eight psr cent per annum until sale of the prop- erty assessed; provided, one or more installments, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax unpaid may be paid on the day any installment becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to said date. SECTION 3.
