115 of 1902 - Ordinance 115 of 1902 – Amending an ordinance relating to public vehicles. AN ORDINANCE . An ordinance amending an ordinance in relation to public vehicles, passed by the City Council October 13th, 1902, and approved by the Mayor, October 14th, 1902. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 1 of an ordinance in relation to pub- lic vehicles, passed by the City Council October 13th, 1902, and approved by the Mayor October 14th, 1902, be, and the same is here- by amended to read as follows: \1 • SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to run, keep or use for hire for the carrying or conveying of persons, any public hackney^ecoach, cab, omnibus, carriage, wagonette or any pub- lic passenger vehicle of any description or name whatsoever, using the streets of Salt Lake City for trade or traffic, without first having obtained a license so to do. SECTION 2. That Section 2 of said ordinance -tbe, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 2. Every person licensed under the provisions of Section 33 of Chapter 22 of the Revised Ordinances, 1892, shall receive from the City Recorder a number for each vehicle licensed; and it shall be unlawful for such person to use his vehicle unless he has caused the said number to be plainly painted in figures at least one and one-half (1 1/2) inches in length in a conspicuous place on the outside of each side of the vehicle, and on the lamps thereof; or to use said vehicle unless said figures are plain and distinct at all times during the continuance of has license; and it shall be unlawful for such person, upon the expiration of such license, or upon the revocation of the same, to permit or suffer said numbers to remain on said vehicle. SECTION 3. That Section 5 elf said ord.in.:,,mce be, and the same is hereby amended to read As fo:ll.ows: SECTION 5. It shall Le the duty of the City Recorder to keep a complete and accurate record of all licenses issued under the provisions of Section 33 of Chapter 22 of b. e Revised Ordinances 1892, which record shah show the numbers men- tioned in Section 2 of this ordinance. SECTION 4. That Section 6 of the ordinance mentioned in the title of this ordinance be, and the same is hereby repealed. SECTION S. That Section 7 of the said ordinance be, and the .same is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 7. It shall be unlawful for any person to stand any licensed public vehicle mentioned in Section 33 15f Chapter 22 of the Revised Ordinances 1892, upon any street in Salt Laao City unless he is at the time actually engaged, at a distance of less than twenty-five (25) feet from any other such licensed vehicle at the time standing thereon. SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
