118 of 1905 - Ordinance 118 of 1905 – Sidewalk Extension No. 101.
AN ORDINANCE . An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property on the east side of First West Street between Eighth and Ninth South Streets, on the west side of First West Street from Ninth South Street to Mead Street, on the east side of First West Street from Mead Street to Goltz Street, on the north side of Mead Street from First West Street to West Temple Street, and the west side of West Temple Street from Mead Street to Ninth South Street, in Sidewalk Districts Nos. 20 and 40, for the construction of cement sidewalks. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Lots 2 to 21, inclusive, Block 2, Walker's Subdivision, Lots 1 and 25 to 46, inclusive, Block 1, Hunter's Subdivision, Lots 8, 9, and 11 Block 23, Five Acre Plat WAS. Lots 1 to 10 inclu- sive, Block 1, Thorn Subdivision, Lots 2 to 11, inolusive, Block 3, West Drive Subdivision, all of Lots 1 and 6 to 22, inclusive, Block 1, Lots 14 to 21, inclusive, Block 2, Jefferson Street Subdivision; Lots 1 and 24 to 44, Block 1, Glenn Subdivision, abutting on the east side of First West Street between Eighth South and Ninth South Streets, on the west side of First West Street from Ninth South Street to Mead Street, on the east side of First West Street from Mead Street to Goltz Street, on the north side of Mead Street from First West Street to West Temple Street, and on the west side of West Temple Street from Mead Street to Ninth South Street in Side- walk Districts Nes. 20 and 40, said property having a frontage of 3579.55 feet along said streets. -2- This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing cement sidewalks six feet wide and four inches think on the east side of First West Street between Eighth South and Ninth South Streets, and on the west side of First West Street from Ninth South Street to Mead Street; and four feet wide and four inches thick on the east side of First West Street from Mead Street to Goltz Street, on the north side of Mead Street from First West Street to West Temple Street, and on the west side of West Temple Street from Mead Street to Ninth South Street, opposite the property hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that the same will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portions of said streets fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be as- sessed upon said parcels of land is two thousand eight hundred and five and 25/100 (0,805.25) dollars, or 91/100 40.91) dollars per front or linear foot of property abutting said six foot sidewalks, and 68/100 (:$0.68) dollars per front or linear foot of property abutting said four foot sidewalks in said district, which is the estimated total cost and estimated cost per front or linear foot of said sidewalks, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and di- rected*to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned: SIX FOOT CEMENT SIDEWALK. Fronting on First West Street: All of Lots 2 to 21, inclusive, Block 2, Walker's Subdivision; all of Lots 1 and 25 to 46, inclusive, Block 1, Hunter's Subdivision the north 10 feet of Lot 11, the south 237.6 feet of Lot 9, and the north 125.4 feet of Lot 8, Block 23, 5 Acre Plat "A". 4 -3- FOUR FOOT CKPIENT S IDEWALKS. Fronting on First West Street: All of Lots 1 to 10, inclusive, Block 1, Thorn'Subdivision, all' of Lots 2 to 11, inclusive, Block 3, West Drive Subdivision. Fronting on Mead Street: All of Lots 14 to 22, inclusive, Block 1; all of Lots 14 to 21, inclusive, Block 2, Jefferson Street Subdivision. Fronting on West Temple Street: All of Lots 1 and 6 to 14, inclusive, Block 1, Jefferson Street. Subdivision, and all of Lots 1 and 24 to 44, inclusive,BTock 1, Glenn Subdivision, Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shown upon the official plate of said City to a depth of twenty-five 1 (25) feet back from said streets, and to collect said tax. SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in six equal installments, as follows, to-wit: One-sixth thereof shall be- come and be delinquent one month after the approval of this ordi- nance; one-sixth thereof in one year after such approval; one-sixth thereof in two years after such approval; one-sixth thereof in three' years after such approval; one-sixth thereof in four years after such approval, and one-sixth thereof in five years after such ap- proval. Each and every installment of said tax except the first, shall draw interest at the rate of six per cent per annum from date of levy until delinquent, and each and every installment of said tax shall bear interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum from and after its date of delinquency.
