Scheid Shearman __ .._..- lerf66 Wells ; ; fit' Mr.Chairman Result AN ORDINANCE An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property on both sides of Main Street between South Temple and Fifth South Streets, in Lighting District No. 2, of Salt Lake City, for the purpose of furnishing and erecting in place seventy ornamental lamp standards, each carrying three 6.6 ampere luminous arc lamps, wiring, etc., complete for operation. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Lighting District No. 2, of Salt Lake City, for the purpose of furnishing and erecting in place seventy ornamental lamp standards, each carrying three 6.6 ampere luminous are lamps, wiring, etc., complete for operation: In Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 39; 1 and 8, Block 40; 1, 6 and 7, Block 51; 4 and 5, Block 52; 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 57; 1 and 8, Block 58; 1, and 6 to 8, inclusive, Block 69; 4 and 5, Block 70;2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 75; 1 and 8, Block 76, all in Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, abutting on both sides of Main Street between South Temple and Fifth South Streets. This tax is levied to defray the expense of furnishing and erecting in place seventy ornamental lamp standards, each carrying three 6/6 ampere luminous arc lamps, wiring, etc., complete for -1- seven standards operation, or fisaxtmx$aming on the side of each block abutting on twth sisdss sY Main Street between South Temple and Fifth South Streets in said district, and it is hereby adjudged, determined an. established that the property hereinbefore and hereinafter desdrib=d will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied and assessed, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linea foot frontage upon said portions of said street, lots and blocks fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back there- from, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said paroe s of land is twenty-five thousand five hundred thirty-four and 65/100 ($25,534.65) dollars, or four and 124/1000 ($4.124) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property, which is the total cost and cost per front foot of the abutters' portion of said improvement, according to the contract entered into for the performance of said work and making said improvement, with the Utah Power & Light Company, dated the 29th day of March, 1916, and there is hereby assessed for the purpose herein mentioned, the following property, to-wit: The west side of Lots 2, 4 and 5, the west side of the north 117.75 feet, and the west side of the south 37.25 feet of Lot 3, Block 39; the east side of Lot 1, the east side of the south 110.2, feet, and the east side of the north 155.5 feet of Lot 8, Block 40 the east side of the south 117 feet of Lot 1, the east side of Lot 6, the east side o£ the north 132 feet of Lot 7, Block 51; the wee side of the south 179 feet, and the west side of the north 85 feet of Lot 4, the west side of Lot 5, Block 52; the west side of Lots 2, 4 and 5, the west side of the north 27 feet, and the west side of the south 128 feet of Lot 3, Block 57; the east side of Lots 1 and 8, Block 58; the east side of Lots 1, and 6 to 8, inclusive, Block 69; the west side of Lots 4 and 5, Block 70; the west side of Lots 2, 4 and 5, the west side of the north 153 feet of Lot 3, ,- -2- Block 75; the east side of Lots 1 and 8, Block 76, all in Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, as appears upon the assessment lists and plats as prepared by the City Engineer, and filed with the City Recorder, as provided in Sections 2 ana a of unapter 96 of the Law- of Utah, 1915. SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in equal annual installments, the first of which shall become delinquent in thirty days after this ordinance becomes effective, and the seoond in one year from said date, and the third in two years from said date, with interest on the whole sum unpaid at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable annually; the whole tax or one or more installments thereof, may be paid without interest within thirty days after this ordinance becomes effective. Unless default is made in the payment of any installment of such tax, one or more installments in the order in which they are made payable, or the whole special tax, may be paid on the day any installment becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to date of payment. Default in the payment of any such installment, whether of principal or interest, when due, shall cause the whole of the unpaid princip=l to become due and payable immediately, and the whole amount of the unpaid principal and accrued interest shall thereafter draw intere=t at the rate of eight per cent per annum until the day of sale; but at any time prior to the day of sale, the amount of all unpaid installments then due, with interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum and all accrue& costs may be paid, and thereafter the right to pay any installment shall exist in the same manner as if default had not been made. -3- SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after its first publication. Lighting District No. 2. Installation.
