AN O11DINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of property
in Lighting District No. 8, for the purpose of providing for the
installation of arc lamps.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
upon the property hereinafter described in Lighting District No. 8,
for the purpose of providing for the installation of arc lamps, to-wit:
In Lots 6 and 5 of Blk. 39; Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Blk.
52, Plat A, Salt Lake City Survey, abutting on both sides of
4th South streets, Main to State streets in Salt Lake City, Utah.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of providing for
the installation of arc lamps (said lamps to be forty-two (42) in
number; fourteen (14) ornamental iron standards on each block in said
district (seven standards to be on each side of each block) each
standard to carry three inverted type ornamental 6.6 ampere luminous
arc lamps), said lamps to be illuminated by electric current; said
standards to be approximately 110 feet apart and to be supplied with
electric current for the illumination of the same each night from
fifteen minutes before dark until midnight, four (4) lamps in each
block, however, to be lighted all night (the cost of installation of
the all night lamps being $772.00 and same paid for by the city) the
circuits for the installation of said system of lamps to be under-
ground, and the portions of said streets opposite the property here-

inbefore and hereinafter described to be especially affected and
benefited by said improvement and it is hereby adjudged, deter-
mined and established that said property will be especially
benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied,
and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uni-
form rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon and
to the entire depth back therefrom and the tax hereby levied and
to be assessed upon said parcels of land is Ten Thousand Thirty
six ($10036.00) dollars or Eight and 244814/1000000 ( 8.244814)
dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property, there being
1217.25 feet abutting said portion of said improvement and the
cost of which installation and the property benefited thereby is
hereinafter set out, and all within the boundaries of the lots,
blocks and streets above mentioned in said district, which is the
total abutters' cost and cost per front foot of said improvement

into for the performance of said work and making said improvement
with Utah Power & Light Company, dated the 6th day of January,
1921, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed
to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance,
for the purpose herein mentioned:
The north side of the east 318 feet of Lot 6 and the
north side of the west 305.26 feet of Lot 5, Block 39; the south
side of the east 132 feet of Lot 2, the south side of the west
132 feet of Lot 3 and the south side of Lots 1 and 4 of Blk. 52,
Plat A, Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shomn upon the
official plats of said city to the entire depth back from said
streets, and to collect said tax.
SECTION II. That the assessment list made by the City
Treasurer, as corrected,approved and completed by the Board of
Equalization and Review of the property described in Section I of
this ordinance in Lighting District No. 8 of Salt Lake City for the
purpose of providing for the installation of arc lamps, is hereby
confirmed, and the assessments made and returned in said completed

lists, and the report of the Board of Equalization and Review
to the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, are hereby
ratified, approved and confirmed.
SECTION III. Said tax shall be payable in three
equal yearly installments as provided by law and ordinance. In
the event any installment is not paid on the day the same becomes
due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said
installment is due, shall become due and payable, and shall
draw interest at the rate of twelve per cent per annum until the
sale of the property assessed.
SECTION IV. This ordinance shall take effect one day
after its first publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah, this 1-'77day of January, A. D., 1922.
