Result AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING the first paragraph of Section
1345 of Chapter 33, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah,
1920, as enacted by an ordinance passed April 24, 1923, relating
to :cigarettes and cigarette papers.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of bait Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I. That the first paragraph of Section 1345 of
Chapter 33, Revised Ordinances of bait Lake City, Utah, 1920, as
enacted by an ordinance passed April 24, 1923, relating to cigarettes
and cigarette papers, be and the same is hereby amended to read as
follows:
SEC. 1345. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation to barter, sell or offer for sale cigarettes or
cigarette papers in Salt Lake City without first having obtain-
ed a permit therefor which said permit may be granted and is-
sued by the Board of Commissioners upon application therefor.
The application for such permit shall be accompanied by a
statement under oath by the applicant showing the location of
the store, stand or other place of business where aaid permit
is sought to be used and also the residence of said applicant,
and shall be filed with the assessor of license taxes. No
permit shall be issued until the applicant shall have filed
with the city recorder a corporate surety bond in the sum of
Five Hundred (4500.00) dollars conditioned upon the faithful

observance li
of all provisions of Chap. 52, Laws of Utah, 1923,
and for payment of all damages that may result from the unlaw-
ful sale of cigarettes or cigarette papers. No permit shall
be issued until the applicant shall have paid to the Treasurer
of Salt Lake City an annual license fee in the sum of Ten
(0_0.00) Dollars. Bach permit shall be numbered and shall
show the residence and place of business of the permit holden
and shall not be transferable. Upon pro-
per application there shall be refunded to all persons who
have obtained licenses and permits for the sale of cigarettes
and cigarette papers letweerk the 14th day of March, 1925, and
the 15th day of May, :925. ,.the sum of : 7.50 for each month
intervening betweenthe ibth day of May, 1925, and the date
of expiration of said license and permit.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners
Tit is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitant-
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediatel .
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon May
1.5th; 1925.
