Harrison . . . / //' / , i Holley. . . • Mr. Chairman Result AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1 of Title 5 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the Uniform Building Code, by amending Section 5-1-11 thereof, relating to the adoption of the Uniform Building Code, 1964 Edition, and adding thereto a new section 5-1-12, relating to the effective date of Section 1309 of the Uniform Building Code, 1964 Edition, and a new Section 5-1-13, relating to doors and openings under Section 1309 (i) of the Uniform Building Code, 1964 Edition. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah! SECTION 1. That Section 5-1-11 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, relating to the adoption of the Uniform Building Code, 1964 Edition, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows: "Sec. 5-1-11. Adopting code. The Uniform Building Code, 1964 Edition, referred to in Section 5-1-1 of these ordinances, as amended by Sections 5-1-2 to 5-1-10, inclusive, and Sections 5-1-12 and 5-1-13, as contained in Volume 1 of said code, excepting therefrom Chapter 70 of the appendix and containing 60 chapters and numbered in sections 101 to 6004, inclusive, and in Volume III of said code, containing uniform building code standards, together with the several standard codes set out in said building code, three copies of each of said codes being on file for use and examination by the public in the office of the recorder of Salt Lake City, are hereby adopted and published by authority of the board of commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, as and for and may be cited and designated as the Uniform Building Code, 1964 Edition, of Salt Lake City, Utah." SECTION 2. That Chapter 1 of Title 5 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the Uniform Building Code, be, and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto a new section 5-1-12, relating to the effective date of Section 1309 of the Uniform I 20 -2- Building Code, 1964 Edition, to read as follows: "Sec. 5-1-12. Existing buildings--Effective date. Section 1309(c) of the Uniform Building Code, 1964 Edition, adopted by Section 5-1-1, as amended, is amended to read as follows: "On or before January 1, 1968, every building falling within its scope shall be vacated until made to conform to the requirements of this section." SECTION 3. That Chapter 1 of Title 5 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the Uniform Building Code, be, and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto a new section 5-1-13, relating to doors and openings under Section 1309(i) of the Uniform Building Code, 1964 Edition, to read as follows: "Sec. 5-1-13. Existing buildings--Doors and openings. Section 1309(i) of the Uniform Building Code, 1964 Edition, adopted by Section 5-1-1, as amended, is amended by adding thereto the following: "Room doors opening into a corridor shall be not less than 1 3/8 inch solid core doors except that use of existing panel doors may be continued if they are protected on one side by equivalent of 3/8 inch fire retardant plywood bearing the Underwriters Laboratory label of approval."
