Dear Sir:
The Board of City Commissioners, at its meeting today, approved
your motion as follows:
I move that the ordinance, BILL NO, 121 of 1966,
amending Section 25-4-6 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah - 1965, applying Schedule 6 of
the Cox Report in calculating future increases for
supervisory officers of the Police, Health and Fire
Departments, as passed by the City Commission on
November 15, 1966, be rescinded.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Subparagraph (h) of Sec. 25-4-6 of the
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to transi-
tion schedule to salary plan for Civil Service personnel.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Subparagraph (h) of Sec. 25-4-6 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to transition
schedule to salary plan for civil service personnel, be, and the same
hereby is, amended to read as follows:
"(h) Transition schedule for present personnel in Civil
Service to adopt salary plan.
"(1) Except as to the supervisory personnel covered by
subparagraph (2) hereof, and except as to the chief of police
and fire chief, the health commissioner and assistant health
commissioners, all officers and employees of the police and
fire departments, department of public health and weights and
measures department, shall pass from the salary plan existing
prior to the adoption of this ordinance to the salary plan
adopted by this ordinance in accordance with the transition
schedule for present personnel to proposed salary plan as
detailed and shown in Exhibit VI of the Job Evaluation and
Salary Study, Salt Lake City Corporation, December, 1965, by
E. R. Cox Associates, a copy of which is on file in the office
of the City Recorder of Salt Lake City.
"(2) The starting salaries for sergeants, lieutenants,
captains and deputy chief of police in the police department;
lieutenants, captains, battalion chiefs and assistant chiefs
in the fire department, and the chief sanitarian, nursing director,
sr. bacteriologist, nursing consultant, sanitarian supervisor,
sealer of weights and measures and nursing supervisors in the
health department, shall be the salary indicated in Salary Step
"D" for the respective class numbers as shown in Time Schedule "A'
of Salary Schedule for Salt Lake City Corporation set out in sub-
paragraph (a) of this section. Transition in salary increases
from said starting salary shall follow the salary step increases
thereafter indicated in said Time Schedule "A"."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt

Lake City, Utah, that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 15th day of November, 1966.
