An ordinance amending Section 924 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City of 1913, in relation to pawnbrokers.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 924 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City of 1913, in relation to pawnbrokers, be, and the same is
hereby amended so as to read as follows:
SECTION 924. It shall be unlawful for any pawnbroker to
fail to keep a book in which shall be legibly written in ink,
in the English language, at the time of each loan, purchase or
receipt of personal property, an accurate account and descrip-
tion of the goods, article or things pawned, purchased or
received, the amount of money loaned or advanced thereog, or
paid therefor, the time, both day and hour, of pawning, pur-
chasing or receiving .$uch oods, article or thing, and the

name am& residence of the erson pawning, selling or delivering

the said goods, article or thing, and no entry to made in said
book shall be erased, obliterated or defaced, and the said
book, as well as every article or thing pawned, pledged, sold
or deposited, shall at all reasonable times be open to the
inspection of any police officer; and it shall be unlawful for
any pawnbroker to deliver to the person pawning, pledging, sell-
ing or delivering said goods, article or thing, or to deliver

the same to any other person, or to sell ornotherwise dispose
of any of said goods, article or thing, for the period of
five days from the date of reoeiging the same, or for the
period of five additional days, if requested by a police
officer to retain them.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
its first publication.
