124 of 1911 - Ordinance 124 of 1911 – Franchise, Utah Light & R.R. Co. for Capitol Hill Line. AN ORDINANCE.
An ordinance amending "an ordinance amending and confirm-
ing an ordinance of Salt Lake City entitled 'An Ordinance Ratify-
ing and Confirming the Transfer of Franchises to Utah Light and
Railway Company, a Coro®ration, Extending the Life of Said Fran-
chises, and Amending the Same, including the Franchise to Utah
Power Company, Approved August 4, 1905,, approved the third day of
December, 1907."
Be it ordained by the city council of Salt Lake City,
Utah, that "An ordinance amending and confirming an ordinance of
Salt Lake City, entitled 'An Ordinance Ratifying and Confirming
the Transfer of Franchises to Utah Light and Railway Company, a
Corporation, Extending the Life of said Franchise, and Amending
the Same, Including the Franchise to Utah Power Company,' approved
August 4, 1905," approved December 3, 1907, be, and the same is
hereby, amended as hereinafter set forth:
Section I. That section 4 of said ordinance be, and the
same is hereby, amended by inserting after subdivision twenty-
di3th, the following "Twenty-seventh. A double track on Main
street connecting with its present tracks at or near First North
street and extending thence North to Second North street, and a
single or double track extending from Second North street Easterly
on Second North street to West Capitol Avenue, and thence North-
westerly on West Capitol Avenue to Fourth North street."
Section II. That the said grantee, its successors or
assigns, shall construct and complete the said double track on
S-tate street to the intersection of Second North street on or •
before the 1&= .day of , 191)en and at least
one track on said Second No- street and West Capitol Avenue on
or before the 31st day of December, 1914; in the event of the
failure of said grantee to have completed the said tracks on said
streets within the time mentioned, then as to the portion of said

streets not so occupied at the expiration of said periods herein
provided, this franchise, and all the provisions thereof, shall

be null and void.
Sec. III. This franchise shall extend until the expira-
tion of the franchise of which this is an amendment, to-wit: Un-
til the 1st day of July, 1955, and the rights hereby granted shall
be subject to the conditions of said ordinance to which it is an
amendment', the same as though the grants herein contained had been
inserted in, and constituted a part of, the said ordinance.
Sec. IV. Said grantee shall within thirty days after
the approval of thi8: ordinance file its acceptance in writing
thereof with the city recorder of said city, otherwise the same
'shall be null and void.
Sec. V. •This ordinance shall take effect upon, approval
and acceptance.
Passed by the city council of Salt Lake City, Utah,
December 14th, , 1911, and referred to the Mayor for
his approval.
