Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance amending Section 984 of Chapter 44,
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, as adopted by
the Board of Commissioners, July 23, 1919, relating to dance
halls, and amending said chapter by adding in and to said
chapter two new sections to be known as Sections 985x and
985x1.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah. /
SECTION I. That Section 984, Chapter 44, Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, as adopted by the Board
of Commissioners, July 23, 1919, be, and the same is hereby
amended so as to read as follows:
SECTION 984. It shall be unlawful to hold or con-
duct any public dance in any dance hall or other place with-
in the limits of Salt Lake City until such dance hall or
other place in which the same may be held shall first have
been duly licensed. The license fee required for a public
dance hall shall be 40.00 per day or ,p400.00 per year, if
such hall or place be operated by the year; provided, that
in restaurants whose principal business is the sale of food
in any quantity for consumption on the premises, the
license fee required shall be •.A0.00 per day or 4;550.00
per year in addition to all other licenses.

No license for a public dance hail shall be issued
until it shall be found that the place for which it is issue
complies with and conforms to all laws, ordinances, health,
and fire regulations applicable thereto and is properly von-
, tilated and supplied with separate and sufficient toilet eon-f
venienoes for each sex, and is a safe and proper place for 1
the purpose for which it shall be used. Every person to whom
a dance hall license is issued shall post the same in a con-
epiouous place in the dance hall covered by such license.
SECTION II. That Chapter 44, Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City of 1913 be, and the same is hereby amended by
adding in and to said chapter two new sections to be known as
Sections 985x and 985x1.
SECTION 985x. No license issued under the provisi s
of this ordinance shall be revoked,nor any application for
license under the provisions of this ordinance be denied, ex-
cept after notice to, and hearing of, the said licensee or
applicant.
SECTION 985x1. If at any time a license under the
provisions of this ordinance is denied, or revoked, it shall
thereafter be unlawful for any person to operate, open, main4
tain, manage or conduct any public dance or public dance hall;
at the same premises until a new license shall be granted by
the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City.
SECTION III. In the opinion of the Board of Commission-
ers, it is necessary to the peace, health, safety and morals of
the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become of-

SECTION IV. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
first publication.
