Green Stewart Mr. Chairman , Result AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE DESIGNAATING And setting aside a certain portion of Salt Bake City as a residence district, and preventing the erection, construction, operation or maintenance of certain businesses therein. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: S:BCTION I. SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, operate or maintain within the district described in Section I of this ordinance, any pacli ng house, tannery, cannery, rendery, bone factory, slaughter house, soap bakery or bake shop factory, foundry, livery stable, butcher shop/ blacksmith shop, coal yard, public'laundry, undertaking or embalming establishmen-, stone crusher, roller mill, machine shop, carpet, clothes, or dr cleaning establishment,.planing mill, ice factory, public garage, automobile repair shop, gasoline service station, dairy, milk depot, lumber yard, market, store or place for the sale of meats, Poultry, fish, butter, cheese, lard, vegetables and all other I provisions, or to erect, operate or maintain any other business, industry or establishment which may interfere with the safe, -2- • healthful or comfortable use of the property for residential pur- poses, which is included within the district described in Section I aforesaid. SECTION 3. It shall be the duty of the Building Inspect or to refuse to grant a permit for the erection or construction o' any building to be hereafter erected, or for the remodeling of any building now in existence, which may be designated or intend- ed to be used for any of the purposes set out in Section 2 of this ordinance within the residence district described in Section I of said ordinance. SECTION 4. xny person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars (u100.00), ort by imprisonment in the City Jail for a period not exceeding sixt (60) days. The court may, in imposing a fine, enter as part of the judgment that in default of payment of the fine, the defend t may be imprisoned in the City Jail for a.period not exceeding sixty (60) days. Each day's operation or maintenance of any of the plants or business mentioned in section 2 of this ordinance shag be construed to be a separate offense. SECTION G. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioner-, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitan s of Salt lake City that this ordinance shall take effect immediat:- ly. SECTION 6. This. ordinance shall become effective upon its first publication.
