AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Sections 246 and 269 of the Traffic Coe'of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 246 of the Traffic Code of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relative to driving through
safety zone, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 246. Driving through safety zone. No vehicle shall
at any time be driven through or within a safety zone, dividing
section, roadway traffic island or any area within or along a
roadway from which vehicular traffic is intended to be excluded
with the exception that a driver intending to turn left into an
intersecting street, alley, driveway, or other parking area may
enter a safety zone or dividing section that is constructed by
painted lines for the purpose of waiting in such area until
the left turn can be properly executed."
SECTION 2. That Section 269 of the Traffic Code of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relative to walking along or
upon roadway, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 269. Walking along or upon roadway. No person shall
at any time stand or loiter on any public street or to walk,
wander, or stroll about a public street or do any other act
that would interfere with a vehicle using said street or would
distract a driver operating a vehicle on said street."
SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt
Lake City, Utah, that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
