Barker Harmsen V4tYji Harrison y Phillips Result AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 43-2-1 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to certificate of convenience and necessity required for taxicabs. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, that Section 43-2-1 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to the requirement for a certificate of :convenience and ` necessity for taxicabs, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read'as follows: "Section 43-2-1. Certificate Required. No person shall operate or permit a taxicab owned or controlled by him to be operated as a vehicle for hire upon the streets of Salt Lake City without first having obtained a certificate of public cpnveriience, and :necessity ' from the Board of Commissioners. For the purpose of this section, the term "operate for hire upon the streets of Salt Lake City" shall not include the transporting, by a taxicab properly licensed in a jurisdic- tion outside the corporate limits of Salt Lake City,of a passenger or passengers for hire where any trip shall orig- inate with the passenger or passengers being picked up out- side of the corporate limits of Salt Lake City and where the destination is either within or beyond Salt Lake City corporate limits. The term "operate for hire upon the streets of Salt Lake City" shall include the soliciting or picking up of a passenger or passengers within the corporate limits of Salt Lake City whether the destination shall be within or outside of the corporate limits of Salt Lake City. SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and Welfare of the inhabi- tants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
