Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 25-11-9 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to standby and callback pay, be, and the same hereby is amended by amending subsections (d) and (e) thereof and adding new subsections (f) and (g) as follows: Sec. 25-11-9. * * * * * * (d) Standby pay. Employees may be required by an appropriate department head or designated representative to keep themselves available for city service during otherwise off duty hours and either remain at home or leave word where they can be reached for an immediate call to service. Such employees shall receive the following compensation in addi- tion to that to which they are otherwise enf"iled: (1) Employees required to remain available to respond to emergency situations shall receive two (2) hours straight time pay per day. As used in this section, "emergency" shall include unforeseen circumstances requir- ing immediate action but shall not include snow, snow removal, street sanding or street department maintenance activities related to spring runoffs. (2) Employees required to remain available for snow removal, street sanding or street department maintenance activities related to spring runoffs shall receive three (3) hours straight time pay only on such occasions as they actually report to work. (e) Callback pay. Employees who have been released from normally scheduled work and standby periods who have been directed to return to work by an appropriate department head or designated representative without advanced notice or scheduling shall receive a minimum two (2) hours straight time pay on such occasions as they actually report to work. (f) Exceptions to standby and callback pay provisions; disciplinary action. Any employee failing to remain available for work as required by subsections (d) and (e) of this , section or to report to work in suitable condition, shall be 13 -2- iq subject,ef disciplinary action and forfeiture or compensation provided for hereunder. Employees ineligible for overtime compensation under the provisions of subsection (b) of this section shall not be entitled to standby or callback pay. (g) Civil Service Personnel Included. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section One of this chapter, the provisions of this section shall apply to civil service personnel except as to hours of work for members of the fire department, which hours shall remain as specified in Section 14-1-13 of these Ordinances. SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
