Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Chapter 1 of Title 100 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, be, and the same hereby is, AMENDED by ADDING new Sections 100-1-1(23) and (24), relating to animal control definitions, and ADDING new Section 100-1-25.1, relating to springloaded traps prohibited, as follows: Sec. 100-1-1. * * * * * * (23) Set. (a) To caulk, open, or put a trap in such a condition that it would clamp closed when an object or person touches a triggering device, and (b) to place a springloaded trap which has been opened or fixed so that it would close upon the triggering device being touched upon the ground or in a position where a person or animal could become caught therein. (24) Springloaded trap. Any clamp-like apparatus which is utilized to catch animals, objects, or persons when, after being set and the triggering device being activated, clamp-like jaws are designed to come together with force so as to clamp or close upon an animal, person or object activating the spring or triggering device. * * * Sec. 100-1-25.1. Springloaded traps prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to set any springloaded trap within the limits of Salt Lake City. Sec. 100-1-25.2. Exception. The provisions of Section 100- 1-25.1 shall not apply to state or local governmental agencies 131 lo� charged with the responsibility of animal control or wildlife management. SECTION 2.
