Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
on both sides of State Street between Fifth South and Sixth South
Streets, and on the west side of said State Street 380 feet north
of Fifth South Street, in Sidewalk District No. 9, for the construc-
tion of a cement sidewalk.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
upon the property hereinafter described in Sidewalk District No. 9,
for the construction of a cement sidewalk, to-wit:
In Lots 1 and 8, Block 34; 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 35; 1, 7 and
8, Block 39, all in Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, abutting on
the west side of State Street between Fourth South and Sixth South
Streets, and on the east side of State Street between Fifth South
and Sixth South Streets.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing
cement sidewalks eight (8) feet wide and four (4) inches thick, with
three and one-quarter (34) inch base and three-quarter (}) inch
topping, upon the portions of said street opposite the property
hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially affected and
benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined
and established that said property will be especially benefited
thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels

of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accord-
ance with the linear foot frontage upon said portions of said
street fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back
therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said
parcels of land is seventeen hundred eleven and 20/100 ( 1711.20)
dollars, or one and 7/100 ( 1.07) dollars per front or linear foot
of abutting property, there being 1599.25 feet of abutting property
within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and street above mentioned
in said district, which is the total cost end cost per front foot
lof said sidewalk, according to the contract entered into for the
performance of said work, and making said improvement, with W. G.
Wertz, dated the 30th day of June, 1914, and the Treasurer is here-
by authorized and directed to assess, in accordance with the pro-
visions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned:
The east side of the south 1¢6.25 feet of the north 206.25
and
feet affxisatx8, the east side of the south 82.5 feet of Lot 8, the
east side of Lot 1, Block 34; the west side of Lots 2 and 5, the
'west side of the north 99 feet, and the west side of the south 49.5
feet of Lot 4, the west side of the north 66 feet, and the west
side of the south 93 feet of Lot 3, Block 35; the east side of Lots
1 and 8, and the east side of the south 53 feet of Lot 7, Block 39,
all in Plat "A", Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shown upon
the offioial plats of slid city to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet
book from said street, and to colleot said tax.
SECTION 2. This tax shall become and be delinquent in five
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each
installment is due, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the
ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for suoh
improvement becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in two years
after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in three
years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in

four years after said ordinance becomes effective; and one-fifth
thereof in five years after said ordinance becomes effective. One
or more of said installments, in the order in which they are pay-
able, or the whole special tax, may be paid at any time within
( thirty days after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax
becomes effective, without interest. In the event of any install-
ment or the interest aforesaid not being paid on the date the same
becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time
said installment and interest are due, shall become due and payable,
land shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum
until the sale of the property assessed; provided, one or more
installments, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole',
special tax unpaid, may be paid on the day any installment becomes
( due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
