AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
on Sixth East Street between Third South and Fifth South Streets,
and on Fourth South Street between Fifth East and Seventh East
Streets, in Paving District No. 27, for the purpose of providing
for the grading, curbing and guttering, construoting drainage
system and private driveways, and paving thereof.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
upon the property hereinafter described in Paving District No. 27,
for the purpose of providing for the grading, curbing and guttering,
constructing drainage system and private driveways, and paving
thereof, to�wit:
In Lots 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 33; 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8, Block
38; 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6,. Block 32; 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 39, Plat
"B", Salt Lake City Survey, abutting on both sides of Sixth East
Street between Third South and Fifth South Streets, and on both
sides of Fourth South Street between Fifth East and Seventh East
Streets.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading, ourbing
and guttering with cement, constructing drainage system to carry
water across streets and intersections, constructing private drive-
ways, and paving with rook asphalt (said pavement to be seventy-
two (72) feet between curbs on Fourth South Street between Fifth
East and Sixth East Streets, and sixty (60) feet between curbs on
said Fourth South Street between Sixth East and Seventh East
Streets, and to consist of two twenty-four (24) foot roadways with
twenty-four (24) foot park between, on Sixth East Street between
Third South and Fifth South Streets, all of said pavement to have
a six (6) inch concrete base, one and one-half (1a) inch binder
and one and one-half (ij) inch topping) , the portions of said
streets opposite the property hereinbefore and hereinafter des-
cribed to be espeoially affeoted and benefited by said improvement
and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that said
property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount
of the tax hereby levied, and said paroels of land ate hereby
assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the lines
foot frontage upon said portions of said streets, fronting upon
and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the
tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is

eighty-two hundred ninety-two and 30/100 (08292.30) dollars, or
six and 33/100 ( 6.33) dollars per front or linear foot of abutti.:

being 1310 feet abutting said portion of said improvement; sixty-
six hundred fifty-two and 80/100 (06652.80) dollars, or five and
4/100 (05.04) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting prop-
erty for sixty foot roadway (with oar tracks) , there being 1320
feet abutting said portion of said improvement; seventeen thousan'
three hundred twenty-seven end 51/100 ( 17,327.51) dollars, or si
and 63/100 ( 6.63) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting
property for two twenty-four foot roadways with twenty-four foot
park between, there being 2613.5 feet abutting said portion of
said improvement; and sixteen hundred ninety-eight and 30/100
( 1698.30) dollars for private driveways, tkaxaxkataa or thirty-

three and 30/100 (433.30) dollars for each private driveway, there
fifty-one private driveways, the cost of the construotion of which
and the property benefited thereby is hereinafter set out, all
within the boundaries of the lots, blooks and streets above men-
tioned in said district, which is the total cost and cost per fron
foot of said improvement, according to the contract entered into
for the performance of said work and making said improvement, with
J. r. Mellen, Contractor, dated the lst day of July, 1915, and the
Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess, in accordan e
with the provisions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein
mentioned:

east 128 feet, and the north side of the west 27 feet of Lot 6,

SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in ten
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time eaoh
installment is due, to-wit: One-tenth thereof one year after the
ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such
improvement becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in two years afte
said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in three years
after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in four
years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in
five years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof
in six years after said ordinance beoomes effective; one tenth
thereof in seven years after said ordinance becomes effective; one
tenth thereof in eight years after said ordinance becomes effeotiv ;
one-tenth thereof in nine years after said ordinance becomes
effective; and one-tenth thereof in ten years after said ordinance
becomes effective. One or more of said installments, in the order
in which they are payable, or the whole special tax, may be paid
at any time within thirty days after the ordinance confirming the
levy of the tax becomes effective, without interest. In the event
of any installment, or the interest aforesaid not being paid on
the date the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax
unpaid at the time said installment and interest are due, shall
beoome due and payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of
eight per cent per annum until the sale of the property assessed;
provided, one or more installments, in the order in which they are
payable, or the whole special tax unpaid, may be paid on the day

any installment becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and
interest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effeot one day after
its first publication.
