AR ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property on both sides of Edison Street between Second South and Third South (Streets, in Paving District Bo. 9, for the purpose of providing for the grading, curbing and paving thereof, and laying dement sidewalks ( thereon. Be it ordained by theCity Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: I SECTION 1: That the City Council does hereby, levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the sane upon.the: property hereinafter ill described in Paving District No. 9, for tine pur.pos• of providing for ; the grading, curbing and paving, and laying cement sidewalk upon a ( portion of said district, toy-wit: In Lots 2 and 7, Block 56, Plat "A", abutt'ixig on both sides of iEdison Street between Second South and Third South Streets. This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading, curbing andl paving with cement (said cement pavement to be twenty-two (22) feet ( wide and eight (8) inches thick) , and. laying cement sidewalk four (4) Ifeet wide and four (4) inches thick, on the portion of sa.i.d street opposite the property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited by said improvement, end it is her - by adjudged, determined and established that said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at en equal and 1luniform rate in accordance with the linear foot fronte a upon said portions of said street fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of lend is four thousand five hundred sevent ypthree� lend 34/100 ($4,573.34) dollars, or three and 46465/100,000 03.46465), dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for grading, curbing, paving and laying sidewalk on the street above mentioned in Paving District No. 9, there being 1320 feet of abutting property within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and street above mentioned 1.36 i ii j -2- i) said district, which is the total cost and cost per front foot of said pavement and sidewalk, according to the contract entered into fo Lithe performance of said work and making said improvement, with J. D. Hanley, dated the 15th day of July, 1909, and the Treasurer is herebyi authorized and directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned: The west side of the east 85 feet, and the east side of the west 50 feet of Lots 2 and 7, Block 56, Plat "&", Salt Lake City Survey, las the same are shown upon the official plats of said city to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said street, and to collect said I tax. SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in ten equal yearly installments, to-wit: One-tenth thereof one year after the ,approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the pay- meat for such improvement; one-tenth thereof in two years after subh approval; one-tenth thereof in three years after such approval; one- , tenth thereof in four years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in I + five years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in six years after 1 such approval; one-tenth thereof in seven years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in eight years after such approval; one-tenth there- of in nine years after such approval; and one-tenth thereof in ten years after such approval. One or more of said installments, in the krder in which they are payable, or the whole special tax may be paid II at any time within thirty days after the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax, without interest. In the event of Zany installment or the interest aforesaid, not being paid on the date the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the tine said installment and interest are due shall become due and ; payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per ! annum until sale of the property assessed; provided one or more in- Istallments, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax unpaid may be paid on the day any installment becomes;,4, a' eae -3- by� I paying the amount thereof and interest to s aid date.
