AN ORDINANCE.
An ordinance amending Section 820 of Chapter 29, Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, as amended by an ordinance passed by
the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, October 1, 1913,
relating to penalty for gambling and gaming.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 820 of Chapter 29 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, as amended by an ordinance passed by
the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, October 1, 1913, be
so
and the same is hereby amended and re-enacted/as to read as follows:
Section 820. Any person violating any of the provisions
of this Chapter, shall upon conviction thereof, be punished
by a fine in any sum not exceeding $299.00, or by imprisonment
in the City Jail for period not longer than six months or
by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 2. No offense committed and no penalty or for-
feiture incurred under any of the provisions of Chapter 29 of the
Revised ordinances of Salt Lake City as amended by an ordinance
passed by the Board of Commissioners October 1, 1913, and no prose-
cution, action, or proceeding pending thereunder shall be affected
by the within amendment to Section 820. In all prosecutions for a
violation of any of the provisions contained in said Chapter 29 of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City as amended, where the
offense was committed prior to the date the within amendment to
Sectier. 820 becomes effective, the penalty imposed in case of con-
viction shall be the penalty existing and provided for at the time
of the commission of such offense.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shalltake effect upon its first
publication. /;
