An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property on
the west .,ide of North Main Street between First Forth and Third Norti
Streets, in Sidewalk District No. 27, for the construction of a cement
sidewalk.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and
provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter
described in Sidewalk District No. 27, for the construction of a.
cement sidewalk, to-wit:
In Lots 1 an d6, Block 17; 1, 6, 7 and 8, Block 12; and 1, 2 and
4, Block 8'A all in Plat "E", abutting on the west side of North Main
Street between First North and Third North Streets.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing' a cement
sidewalk six (6) feet wide and four (4) inches thick upon the portion
of said street opposite the property hereinhefore and hereinafter des-
cribed to be especially affected and benefited by said improvement,
and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that said prop-
erty
will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the
tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an
equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage
upon said portion of said street fronting upon and to a depth of

twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, ;;n.d the tax hereby levied and
to be assessed upon said parcels of land is one thousand eight hundred
seventy-five and 79/100 01875.79) dollars, or one and 258556/1000000
01.258556) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for
sidewalk upon the street above mentioned in Sidewalk District So. 27,
there being 1490.43 feet of abutting property within the boundaries
of the lots, blocks and street above mentioned in said district, which
is the total cost and cost per front foot of said sidewalk, according
to the contract entered into for the performance of said work and
making said improvement , with McKay P Reed, dated the 30th day of

August, 1909, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to
assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance for the
purpose herein mentioned:

provement; one-fifth thereof in two years after such approval; one-
fifth thereof in three years after such approval; one-fifth thereof
in four years after such approval; and one-fifth thereof in five year
it after such approval. One or more of said installments, in the order
in which they are payable, or the whole special tax may be paid at an
time within thirty days after the approval of the ordinance confirming
the levy of the tax, without interest. In the event of any install-
ment II
or the interest aforesaid, not being paid, on the date the some
becomes due, the whole amount of the s ecial tax unpaid at the time
said installment and interest are due shall become due and payable,
and shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum until

sale of the property assessed; provided one or more installments, in
the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax unpaid
may be paid on the day any inctellmnent becomes due, by payint the
amount thereof and interest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
