(Refuse Collector Differentials)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 25-5-4A OF THE REVISED
ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, RELATING TO PAY
DIFFERENTIALS FOR CITY REFUSE COLLECTORS; PROVIDING FOR A MONTHLY
PAY BENEFIT FOR SUCH EMPLOYEES WHILE ASSIGNED TO ONE-PERSON
CREWS.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 25-5-4A of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Sec. 25-5-4A. Refuse Collector Differentials. (1) Full-
time, permanent employees who were classified as Refuse
Collectors II on April 1, 1979, and who are currently assigned to
such duty in the Department of Public Works, shall receive a pay
differential equal to five percent (5%) of their regular monthly
salaries during such times as they are assigned to duty on
collection vehicles manned by two employees. Such pay
differential shall be specified separate from regular earnings on
each employee's semi-monthly wage statement.
(2) All full-time, permanent employees who are assigned to
duty on collection vehicles manned by no more than one employee
each, shall receive a pay differential, separate and apart from
their base salaries, of $300.00 per month for the months of April
through September, and $275.00 for the months of October through
March of the following year. The following conditions shall
apply to this differential:
a) payment shall be made only for days actually worked
on a one-person crew; accordingly, absences from scheduled
work for vacation, sick leave, industrial injury or any
other reason, shall reduce the monthly differential on a
pro-rata basis; and

b) employees substituting on a one-person crew shall be
given a pro-rata share of the differential for days so
worked.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect on January
1, 1981.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 30th day of December , 1980.
