AN ORDINANCE DESIGNLTING AND SETTING ASIDE a certain por-
tion of salt Lake City as a residence district, and preventing the
erection, construction, operation or maintenance of certain busi-
nesses therein.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of salt Lake
City, Utalt:
SECTION I. That there is hereby designated and set aside
as a residence district, the portion of Salt Lake City contained
and included within the following described boundaries, to-wit:
Commencing at a point on the South side of 7th South
St., 326.85 ft. east of the N.W. corner of Lot 5, Block 8,
Plat "F", Salt Lake City Survey, running thence west along
the south property line of 7th South Street 1909.23 ft. to
the east property line of llth East Street, thence south along
the east property line of llth East St. 1449.13 ft. to the
S. W. corner of Lot 29, Block 15, Fremont Heights Subdivision
of Block 3, Plat "F", Salt Lake City Survey, thence south-
westerly to the N.N. corner of Block 17-A,5 Acre Flat "A",
Big Field Survey, thence south along the east property line

1 blacksmith shop, coal yard, public laundry, undertaking or embalm
ing establishment, stone crusher, roller mill, machine shop, car-

pet, clothes, or dry cleaning establishment, planing mill, ice
factory, public garage, automobile repair shop, gasoline service
station, dairy, milk depot, lumber yard, market, store, or place
for the sale of meats, poultry, fish, butter, cheese, lard, vege-1
stables and all other provisions, or to erect, operate or maintain
lany other business, industry or establishment which may interfered
with the safe, healthful or comfortable use of the property for
residential, purposes, which is included within the district describ-
ed in Section I aforesaid.
SECTION 3. It shall be the duty of the Building Inspeetpr
Tito refuse to grant a permit for the erection or construction of
aany building to be hereafter erected, or for the remodeling of any
building now in existence, which may be designated or intended tol
be used for any of the purposes set out in Section 2 of this ordi-
nance within the residence district described in Section I of this
ordinance.
SvECTION 4. Any person violating any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a
ii
fine in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars (+ 100.00), or by
imprisonment in the City Jail for a period not exceeding sixty j
(60) days. The court may, in imposing a fine, enter as part of
the judgment that in default of payment of the fine, the defendant
may be imprisoned in the City Jail for a period of sixty (60) day .
Each day's operation er maintenance of my of the plant$

strued to be a separate offense.
SECTION 5. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitant
lof Salt Lake City that this ordinance shall take effect immediate'y.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall become effective upon
