Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
on Fifth East Street between Ninth South and Tenth South Streets, in
Paving District No. 31, for the purpose of providing for the grading,
curbing and guttering, constructing drainage and irrigetion systems
end paving thereof, and building concrete conduit at Tenth South
Street.
Bo it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. Thet the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
upon the property hereinafter described in Paving District No. 31,
for the purpose of providing for the grading, curbing and guttering,
constructing drainage and irrigetion systems, and paving thereof,
and building concrete conduit at Tenth South Street, to-wit:
In Lots 12, 19 and 20, Block 20; 1, and 17 to 30, inclusive,
Block 4; 1, end 17 to 30, inclusive, Block 1, Denver Place Subdivi-
sion; 16 to 30, inclusive, Block 4; 11 to 20, inclusive, Block 5,
Gordon 21@t Subdivision; 1 to 6, inclusive, Block 1; 1 to 13, in-
clusive, Block 2, Lyndele Subdivision, all in Block 20; 2 to 11,
all in
inclusive, Block 19; 11, Block 14,/Five Acre Plat "A", Big Field
Survey, abutting on both sides of Fifth East Street between

Ninth South and Tenth South Streets.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading, curbing
and guttering with cement, constructing drainage end irrigation
systems from four (4) inches to fifteen (16) inches in diameter, of.
Dement, vitrified, corrugated iron or wrought iron pipe, building
concrete conduit at Tenth South 8t¢'eet, and paving with asphalt a
roadway (said roadway to be forty (40) feet wide between curbs, an
eight and one-half (8*) inches thick) , the portions of said street
opposite the property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be
especially affected and benefited by said improvement, end it is
hereby adjudged, determined and established that said property wil
be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax here
by levied, and said parcels of lend ere hereby assessed at an aqua
and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon
said portions of said street fronting upon and to e depth of twant -
five (26) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be
assessed upon said parcels of land is thirty thousand three hundre.
eighteen and 65/100 (00,318.66) dollars, or five and 48/100 (45.41 )
dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property, there being
5632.6 feet of abutting property within the boundaries of the lots
blocks and street above mentioned in said district, which is the
total cost end cost per front foot of said improvement, according
to the contract entered into for the performance of said work and
making said improvement, with J. V. Mellen, dated the 9th day of
April, 1914, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed
to assess, in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance,
for the purpose herein mentioned:
The east side of Lot 12, Block 20; the east side of Lots 1.;
and 17 to 30, inclusive, Block 4; the east side of Lots 1, and 17
to 30, inclusive, Block 1, Denver Place Subdivision; the east side
of Lots 16 to 30, inclusive, Block 4; the east side of Lots 11 to
20, inclusive, Block 5, Gordon Flat Subdivision; the east side of,
the north 204.6 feet, and the east side of the south 57.5 feet

Lot 19, the east side of the north 33 feet of Lot 20; the east sid!
of Lots 1 to 6, inclusive, Block 1; the east side of Lots 1 to 13,
inclusive, Block 2, Lyndale Subdivision, all in Block 20; the west
side of Lots 2 to 11, inclusive, and the south side of the west
39.8 feet of Lot 2, Block 19; the north side of the west 39.8 feet
of Lot 11, Block 14, all in Five Acre Plat "A", Big Field Survey,
as the same are shown upon the official plats of said city to a

said tax.SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in ten
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid

at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each
II installment is due, to-wit: One-tenth thereof one year after the
I ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such
improvement becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in two years
11 after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in three
j years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in
four years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth there-
of in five years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth
thereof in six years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-
tenth thereof in seven years after said ordinance beeomes effect-
ive; one-tenth thereof in eight years after said ordinance becomes
effective; one-tenth thereof in nine years after said ordinance
becomes effective; and one-tenth thereof in ten years after said
ordinance becomes effective. One or more installments, in the
order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax, may be
paid at any time within thirty days after the ordinance confirmin
the levy of the tax becomes effective, without interest. In the
event of any installment, or the interest aforesaid, not being

I paid on the date the same becomes due, the whole amount of the
special tax unpaid at the time said installment and interest are
due, shall become due end payable, and shall draw interest at the

rate of eight per cent per annum until the sale of the property
assessed; provided, one or more installments, in the order in whicr

they are payable, or the whole special tax unpaid, may be paid on
the day the same becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and
interest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
