Result ! AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of'property
in the district bounded on the north by the south side of Fourth
Avenue, on the east by the east line of Popperton Place, on the
south by the south line of Popperton Place, and on the west by the
west line of Virginia Street, in Sewer District No. 1, for the
construction of sewers.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
upon the property hereinafter described in Sewer District No. 1,
for the construction of sewers, to-wit:
In Lots 25 to 29, inclusive, Block 5; 25 to 48, inclusive,
Block 6; 1 to 12, inclusive, Block 7; 1 and 7, Block 8; 25 to 35,
inclusive, Block 11, Popperton Plane Subdivision; and in Popperton
Place Subdivision, all in Section 33, Township 1 north, Range 1 east,
Salt Lake Base and Meridian, abutting on both sides of Second Avenue
between Virginia Street and the east boundary line of Popperton
Place Subdivision; on the east side of Virginia Street between
Second Avenue and the south boundary line of Popperton Place Subdi-
vision; on the west side of Laurel Street between Second Avenue and
the south boundary line of Popperton Place Subdivision; and on the
east
north side of Third Avenue kstxssa from Virginia Street 125 feet.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing
sewer laterals of vitrified pipe eight (8) inches in diameter upon
the portions of said streets opposite the property hereinbefore and
hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited by
said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and estab-
lished that said property will be especially benefited thereby to
the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land
are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance
with the linear foot frontage upon said portions of said streets
fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back there-
from, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parse s
of land is sixteen hundred eighteen end 74/100 ($1618.74) dollars,
or 828/1000 ( 0.828) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting
property, there being 1955 feet of abutting property within the
boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said
district, which is the total cost and cost per front foot of said
sewers, according to the contract entered into for the performance
of said work and making said improvement, with Ryberg Brothers,
dated the 25th day of August, 1915, and the Treasurer is hereby
authorized and directed to assess, in accordance with the provi-
sions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned:
The south side of Lots 25 to 29, inclusive, Block 5; the soutd
side of Lots 25 to 48, inclusive, Block 6; the west side of Lots 1
to 6, inclusive, the north side of the east 65 feet of Lot 1, the
north side of the west 65 feet of Lot 7, the east side of Lots 7
to 12, inclusive, Block 7; the north side of Lots 1 and 7, Block 8
the south side of Lots 25 to 35, inclusive, Block 11, Popperton
Place Subdivision; beginning at a point 80 feet south of the south
west corner of Lot 25, Block 11, Popperton Place Subdivision, then e
east 275 feet, being in Popperton Place Subdivision, all in Seotio'
33, Township 1 north, Range 1 east, Salt Lake Base and Meridian,
as the same ere shown upon the official plats of said City to a
depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said streets, and to
collect said tex.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five

equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each
installment is due, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the
ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for suoh
improvement becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in two years
after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in three
years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in
four years after said ordinance becomes effective; and one-fifth
thereof in five years after said ordinance becomes effective. One
or more of said installments, in the order in which they are pay-
able, or the whole special tax, may be paid at any time within
thirty days after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax
becomes effective, without interest. In the event of any install-
ment or the interest aforesaid not being paid on the date the sam:
becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the
time said installment and interest are due, shall become due and
payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of eight per Dent peu
annum until the sale of the property assessed; provided, one or
more installments, in the order in which they are payable, or the
whole special tax unpaid, may be paid on the day any installment
becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to said da e.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
its first publication.
