148 of 1910 - Ordinance 148 of 1910 – Sewer Extension No. 249, Fourth & Final Estimate. AN ORDI NANCF .
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property on
all streets within the district bounded on the north by the center
line of Ninth South Street, on the east by the east property line of
West Temple Street, on the south by the north property line of Roper
Avenue, and on the west by the west property line of Second West
Street, in Sewer District No. 2, for the construction of sewers.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Luke City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and
provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter
described in Sewer District No. 2, for the donstruction of sewers,
to-wit:
In Lots 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, Block 22; 2 to 11, inclusive,
Block 2; 2 to 11, inclusive, Block 4; 2 tth 11, inclusive, Block 6; 2
to 12, inclusive, Block 8, North Columbia Subdivision, Bloek 22; 1 to
44, inclusive, Block 1; 1, and 24 to 44, inclusive, Block 2, Glenn
' Subdivision, Block 23; 22, and 1 to 14, inclusive, Block 1; 21, and
2 to 5, inclusive, Block 2, Jefferson Street Subdivision, Block 23;
1, and 14 to 22, inclusive, Block 4, West Drive Subdivision, Block 23;
1 to 10, inclusive, Block 2, Thorn Subdivision, Block 23; 1 to 11, in-
clusive, Block 1; 1 to 11, inclusive, Block 2; 1 to 5, inclusive,
Block 3, West Boulevard Nubdivision, Block 23; 20, Block 23; 1, and 9
to 14, inclusive, Block 4, Holland Subdivision, Block 23, all in Five
Acre Flat "A", Big Field Survey, abutting on both sides of West Temple
Street between Ninth South Street and Roper Avenue; and on both sides
of Jefferson Street between Ninth South Street and Meed Avenue.
This tax is levied to defre.y the expense of constructing; vitri-
fied pipe sewers ten (10) and twelve (12) inches in dismeter ueon the
portions of said streets opposite t'..e property hereinbeforr and. here-
inafter described to be especially affected. u.nd benefited by said im-
pro*iemei,t, and it is Thereby adjudged, determined and e trbliehed that
said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount
of the tax hereby levied, and said ,o:reel c of 1rnd arc, ,Ie-eby assessed

an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the "linear foot front-
age upon said portions of said streets fronting upon and to a depth
of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and
to be assessed upon said parcels of land is six thousand seven hundred
four and 18/100 ( 6,704.18) dollars, or 9991105/10,000,000
( 0.9991105) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property
for sewer in center of streets, there being 6710.15 feet of abutting
property within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above
mentioned in said district, which is the total coot and cost per front
foot of said sewer, according to the contract entered into for the
'performance of said work and making said improvement with James
Kennedy Construction Company, dated the 7th day of February, 1910, and
;the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess in accord-
ance with the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose herein
mentioned;

Big Field Survey, as the sane are shown upon the official plats of
said city,to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said streets,
and to collect said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five equal
yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid at the rate
of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each installment is due,
to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the approval of the ordinance
confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such improvement;
one-fifth thereof in two years after such approval; one-fifth thereof
in three years after such approval; one-fifth thereof in four years
after such approval; and one-fifth thereof in five years after such
approval. One or more of said installments, in the order in which
- they are payable, or the whole special tax may be paid at any time
within thirty days after the approval of the ordinance con"i.rming the
, levy of the tax, without interest. In the overt of any instillment
or the interest aforesaid not being paid on the date the same becomes
due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said in-
stallment and interest are due, shall become due and payable, and
shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum until the
'sale of the property assessed; provided, one or more inetollmonts, in
the order in which they are payable, or the vchole speds1 tax unpaid
may be paid on the day any installment becomes due, by purin,' the
amount thereof and interest to said as.le.
