An ordinance ame iding and re-enacti Secti can 108 of the Re-
vised Ordinances of S'alt Lake City.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTIOI:T 1. That Section 108 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Late City be, and it hereby is ameeded and re-enacted so as to read
as follows:
SECTION 108. BILL BOARDS. It shall be unlawful to erect,
construct or maintain within the corporate limits of Salt I Rne
City, any sign board, bill board or other structure used or in-
tended to be used for advertising purposes without first ob-
taining a permit therefor from the Building- Inspector of said
City; and it is hereby made the duty of said Building Inspector
to see to it that all bill boards, sign boards and other struc-
tures used or intended to be used for advertising purposes,
heretofore erected or constructed, and all of the sane hereafter
to be constructed shall be built, braced and strengthened in
such a way Re to be absolutely safe from danger of falling or
collapsing on any sidewalk, street, allay or way of said City;
and he is hereby authorized to condemn and tear down any sign
board, bill hoard or other structure herein mentioned, now con-
structed or hereafter constructed, that is not safe from danger
of falling or collapsing upon any sidewalk, street, alley or
' way of said City.
Nor issuing permits for the erection of the bill boards
and structures above mentioned, said Building Inspector shall
charge a fee of one 01.00) dollar for each and. every permit so
issued.
ITo permit shall be issued to any person, firm or corpora-
tion to ecnstruct or erect any bill board, sign board. or other
structure used or intended to be used for advertising purposes
within twenty (20) feet of any sidewalk, street, alloy or way

of said City unless such person, firm or corporation applying
for such permit shall first make, execute and deliver to said
Salt Lake City a bond in the sum of five thousand ( i5,000.00)
dollars, with sureties to be approved by the Mayor of said City
conditioned to the effect that said person, firm or corporation
shall save the City harmless from any and all damages it may
sustain by reason of the existence of said bill board, sign
board or advertising structure, or by reason of tLe
collapse or lack of repair of the same.
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to 'the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
