AN ORDINANCE .
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
in the territory included between the center line of Fifth South
Street and the center line of Ninth South Street, and from the
east property line of Ninth East Street to the Reservation, in
Sewer District No. 1, for the construction of sewers.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the
sane upon the property hereinafter described in Sewer District No.
1, for the construction of sewers, to-wit:
In Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 4; 1 to 9, inclusive, and 11 to
24, inclusive, Block 8; 23, and 1 to 11, inclusive, and 13 to 17,
inclusive, Block 9; 1, and 7 to 11, inclusive, and 13 to 23, in-
clusive, Block 16, Fremont Heights Subdivision of Block 4; 28 and
29, Block 10; 28 and 29, Block 15, Fremont Heights Subdivision of
Block 3; 1, 2, 3 and 4, Block 5, Plat "F"; commencing at the south
east corner of Lot 1, Block 5, Plat "F", thence east 41 feet; in
Lots 1, Block 2; 1 and 2, and 6 to 28, inclusive, Block 1, Wood-
mansee Subdivision of Block 1; 1 and 2, Block 14; 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8
Block 15; 1 and 2, Block 28, Plat "B"; commencing at the southeast
corner of Lot 1, Block 1, Woodmansee Subdivision of Block 1, Plat
"B", thence east 24.5 feet; fronting on Tenth East Street, begin •

abutting on the south side of Eighth South Street between Tenth
East and Eleventh East Streets; on the north side of Eighth South
Street between Ninth East and Eleventh East Streets; on the north
side of Ninth South Street between Ninth East and Eleventh East
Streets; on both sides of Sixth South Street between Ninth East
and Tenth East Streets; on the west side of Tenth East Street
between Sixth South and Seventh South Streets, and between Eighth
South and Ninth South Streets; on the east side of Tenth East
Street between Eighth South and Ninth South Streets; on the east
side of Lincoln Street between Eighth South and Ninth South Streets;
on both sides of Eleventh East Street between Eighth South and
Ninth South Streets; and on both sides of McClelland Street betwee,•
Eighth South and Ninth South Streets.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing
vitrified pipe sewers eight (8) , ten (10) and twelve (12) inches
in diameter, upon the portions of said streets opposite the prop-
erty hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially
affected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby ad-
judged, determined and established that said property will be
especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby
levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal
and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon
said portions of said streets fronting upon and to a depth of
twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied
and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is ten thousand ten
and 74/100 (010,010.74) dollars; six thousand eight hundred ten
and 79/100 (06,810.79) dollars, or one and 468/1000 (01.468)
dollars 'per front or linear foot of abutting property for sewer
on side of streets, there being 4639.50 feet of abutting property

within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above men-
tioned; and three thousand one hundred ninety-nine and 95/100
($3,199.95) dollars, or 734/1000 ($0.734) dollars per front or
linear foot of abutting property for sewer in center of streets,
there being 4359.60 feet of abutting property within the boundarie:
of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said district,
which is the total cost and cost per front foot of said sewers,
according to the contract entered into for the performance of said
work and making said improvement, with Heuser & Sim, dated the ,
10th day of August, 1912, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized
and directed to assess, in accordance with the provisions of this
ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned:
Sewer on Sides of Streets.
The east 85.9 feet of the west 110.9 feet of the north side
of Lot 5, Block 4; the north side of Lots 2 to 9, inclusive, Block
8; the east 13.1 feet of the north side of Lot 11, the west 6.9
feet of the north side of Lot 1, the north side of Lots 2 to 10,
inclusive, Block 9;;the west 45.3 feet of the south side of Lot
24, Block 8, Fremont Heights Subdivision of Block 4; the east
269.7 feet of the west 294.7 feet of the south side of Lott:, Bloc
4; the east 13.1 feet of the south side of Lot 13, the west 6.9
feet of the south side of Lot 23, the south side of Lots 14 to 22,
inclusive, Block 16, Fremont Heights Subdivision of Block 4; the
east 140 feet of the south side of Lot 4, the south side of Lot 3,

East Street, beginning at a point 49.5 feet east of the southeast
corner of Lot 1, Block 1, Woodmansee Subdivision of Block 1, Plat
"B", thence north 528 feet; the west side of Lots 28 and 29, Block
10; the west side of Lots 28 and 29, Block 15, Fremont Heights
Subdivision of Block 3; the west side of Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block
4; the east side of Lots 1, and 11 to 24, inclusive, Block 8; the

(25) feet back from said streets, and to collect said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each
ineta9;lment is due, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the
drdineice confirming the-levy ofthe ,tax for the payment for such
$provement becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in two years,;after
said'ord.inance becomes e £eetive; -one-fifth thereat is three years
after said ordinance becomes effete ve; one-fifth thereof im four
years after said ordinance beifemes ` f'fective; and ene+fifth there-
of in five'years after skid ',ordinance, becomes effective. O .e;or
mo*e of sa>.d installmentk, in the order in which they are payable,
or the whole special tax, may be paid at any time within thirty
days after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax becomes
effective, without interest. In the event of any installment or
the interest aforesaid not being paid on the date the same becomes
due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said
installment and interest are due, shall become due and payable,
and shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum
until the sale of the property assessed; provided, one or more in-
stallments, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole
special tax unpaid, may be paid on the days any installment be-
comes due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall tyke effect one day after
its first publication.
