AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
in the district bounded on the north by Ninth South Street, on the
east by the center line of Fourteenth East Street, on the south by
the city limits, and on the west by the center line of State Stree ,
in Sidewalk Districts Nos. 29, 30 and 40, for the construction of
cement sidewalks.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the'sam.
upon the property hereinafter described in Sidewalk Districts Nos.
29, 30 and 40, for the construction of cement sidewalks, to-wit :
In Lots 80 to 95, inclusive,Aand 102 to 109, inclusive, Felt':
Subdivision, and part of Felt's Subdivision of Block 16-A; in Lots
12, 15 and 16, Block 16-A; 1, and 103 to 111, inclusive, Block 4;

South and Eleventh South Streets; on the east side of Twelfth East
Street between Wood and Logan Avenues; on the north side of Eleven h
South Street between Thirteenth East and Fourteenth East Streets;
on the south side of Kensington Avenue between Thirteenth East and
Fourteenth East Streets; on both sides of Bryan Avenue between
Thirteenth East and Fourteenth East Streets; on the west side of
Fourteenth East Street between Kensington and Logan Avenues; and
on the east side of Seventh East Street between D^wnington and
Argyle Avenues.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing cement
sidewalks (said cement sidewalks to be six (6) feet wide and four
(4) inches thick on Ninth South Street, and five (5) feet wide and
four (4) inches thick upon other streets in said territory) , upon
the portions of said streets opposite the property hereinbefore an.
hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited by
said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and estab-
lished that said property will be especially benefited thereby to
the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land
are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance wit.
the linear foot frontage upon said portions of said streets front-
ing upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom,
and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of
land is six thousand seven hundred forty4aix and 80/100 ( 6,746,s0)
dollars, or 75/100 ($0.75) dollars per front or linear foot of
abutting property for sidewalks five feet wide, there being 8995.73
feet of abutting property within the boundaries of the lots, block.

cost and cost per front foot of said sidewalks, according to the
contract entered into for the performance of said work and making

said improvement with the Consolidated Construction Company, fated
the 16th day of October, 1911, and the Treasurer is hereby authori•ed
and directed to assess, in accordance with the provisions of this
ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned:

said city to a cepth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said streets,
and to collect said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each
installment is due, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the
ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for subh
improvement becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in two years afte'
said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in three years
after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in four
years after said ordinance becomes effective; and one-fifth there-
of in five years after said ordinance becomes effective, One or

more of said installments, in the order in which they are payable,
or the whole special tax, may be paid at any time within thirty
days after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax becomes
effective, without interest. In the event of any installment or
the interest aforesaid not being paid on the date the same becomes
due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said
installment and interest are due, shall become due and payable, an
shall draw interest a the rate of eight per cent per annum until
the sale of the property assessed; provided, one or more`install-
ments, in(the order in which they are payable, or the whole specie
tax unpaid, may be paid on the day any installment becomes due, by
paying the amount the eof and, int.erest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
its first publication.
