AN ORDINANCE .
An ordinance declaring the emission of thick black or gray
smoke., or cinders from smokestacks or chimneys a public nuisance.,
and providing for punishment for causing or permitting the same.
.• Ee it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:

hereby declared to be a public nuisance; Provided,, that. nothing in
tliis,.ordinance shall be construed` as applied to the' chimneys of
7buildiigs used exclusively for private residences.
SECTION 2. That the owner, agent, lessee, or occupant of any ! li
building of any description from the smokestack or chimney of which
there shall issue or be emitted thick or dense black or gray smoke
or cinders within the City of Salt Lake on or after the day above
jl named shall be deemed and held guilty of creating a public nuisance,

and of violating the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 3•. That any person or persons violating the provi-
sions l j
of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, before the
City Court of the City of Salt Lake, be punished by a fine of not
less than ten ($10.00) dollars nor more than one hundred 0100.00)
iI dollars for each and a very offense; and each and every day wherein
l j the provisions of this ordinance shall be violated shall constitute
a separate offense.
SECTION 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
