157 of 1908 - Ordinance 157 of 1908 – Paving Extension No. 47. II AN ORDINANCE . An ordinance levying a tax and providing for the assessment of the property hereinafter described on G Street between South Temple ,,Street and First Avenue, in Paving Distrift Jo. 30, for the purpose of providing for the grading and paving thereof. Be it ordained by the City Couaoil of Salt Lake City, Utah: SSOTIO3 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and !provide for the assessment of the sane upon the property hereinafter described in Paving District Jo. 30, for the purpose of providing for the grading and paving of a portion of said district, to-wit: In Lots 8 and 8, Block 7, and 1 and 4, Block 8, all in Plat "D",', , abutting on both sides of G Street between South Temple Street and First Avenue. This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading,and paving ',with asphalt (said asphalt pavement to be thirty-five (35) feet wide (between ourbs, and aims and one-half (9•1/S) iaehes thick), the por- ' tion of said street opposite the property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited by said improvement';, and it is hereby adjudged. determined and established that said prop-! lerty will be especially benefited thereby to the Rill amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an', equal and uniform rate in seeardanoe with the linear foot frontage !upon said portion of said street fronting apes and to a depth of ,twenty-five (!i)fast bank therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to' li Ibe assessed upon said parcels of lead is three thousand four hundred eighty-eight and 59/100 ($3,488.59) dollars, or five and 285742/1,000,000 (45.285742) dollars per front or linear foot of abut ting property for grading and paving the street above mentioned in ,Paving District No. 30, there being 660 feet of abutting property (within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and street above mentioned in said district, which is the total cost and cost per front foot of r,said pavement according to the contraot entered into for the perfor= Imonce of said work and making said improvement, with P. Moran, •T;'.: it -2- i dated the 9th day of October, 1908, and the Treasurer is hereby authgr.- ised and directed to assess in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned; The west side of Lots 2 and 3, Blook 7; and the east side of Lots 1 and 4, Block 8, all in Plat "D", Salt bake City Survey, as the same are shown upon the official plats of said City to a depth of twenty- i five (26) feet bask from said street, and to collect ,Said tax. Said tax,shall become and be delinquent in ten equal ) installments, as follows, to-wit: One-tenth thereof One year after the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such improvement; one-tenth thereof in two years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in three years after such approval; II one-tenth thereof in four years after such approval; one-tenth there-1 of in five years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in six years ) after suoh approval; one-tenth thereof in seven years after such ap- 1 proval; one-tenth thereof in eight years after such approval; one- tenth thereof in nine years after such approval; and one-tenth there of in ten years after such approval. One or more of said installments for the whole tax may be paid on or before ten days after the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax. One or more installj- menta, or the whole special tax may be paid on the day any installment becomes due by paying the amount thereof and interest to date of pay-I ment. Bach of said installments shall bear interest at the rate of six (6) per cent per annm► from the date of the approval of the ordi i nanoe confirming the levy of said tax until the date of delinquency, and eight (8) per cent per annum from delinquency until paid. SSOTIOB 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
