AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Chapter 32 of Title 51 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to zoning regulations and enforce-
ment, by adding thereto a new Section 51-32-6A.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 32 of Title 51 of the Revised Ordinances. 'of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to zoning regulations and enforcement,
be, and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto a new Section 51-,32-6A,
relating to the proposed historical district building permit moratorium,
to read as follows:
Sec. 51-32-6A. South Temple historical district building permit
moratorium. No building permits for the purpose of demolition
shall be issued by the building inspector prior to six (6) months
from the effective date of this ordinance for any building or
premises situated within boundaries of the South Temple historical
district as defined in Section 51-32-2. Further, no building
permits for the purpose of addition, reconstruction, alteration
or new construction of premises which would affect the exterior
appearance of buildings or structures within the South Temple
historical district shall be issued without conforming to the
provisions and development standards for historic districts and
landmark sites as set forth in Section 51-32-6, et seq. or this
title and the requirements of an R5-A zone.
Said moratorium shall extend for a period of six months.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is
necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake
City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publica-
tion.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
4th day of October , 1977.
