AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 51-32-2(4) (b) RELATING TO
DESIGNATED CITY LANDMARK SITES FOR THE CITY AT LARGE BY ADDING
FIVE (5) LANDMARK SITES THERETO.
Whereas, based upon this review, it has been the recommenda-
tion of the Landmarks Committee, with the concurrence of the
Planning and Zoning Commission, that the following five (5)
structures meet the qualification of being historically and
architecturally significant to the City; and
Whereas it is the desire of the City that these buildings
be preserved for the use, observation, education, pleasure and
general welfare of the present and future inhabitants of Salt
Lake City and to retain the visual vestige of the City's heri-
tage; and
Whereas the City Council has taken this matter up at a
public hearing held on December 16, 1980, and at which time con-
ceptual approval was granted, and that on the 23rd day of January,
1981, the notice of the proposed designation, together with a
copy of the ordinances affecting designated landmark sites was
mailed to the properties; and
Whereas thirty (30) days from the date of that notice has
expired at which time final action by the City Council is
appropriate;
Therefore, be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 51-32-2(4) (b) relating to the
designation of City Landmark Sites, due to their individual
historical and/or architectural significance, shall be AMENDED
by ADDING thereto subparagraphs (14) through (18) to include the
following properties hereby adopted as historic landmark sites.
Sec. 51-32-2. Historic Districts and Landmark Sites - City
Historic Register. The following are hereby adopted and
and designated as historic districts or landmark sites upon the
Historic Register of Salt Lake City.

West Street.
(18) The General Engineering Company, 159
Pierpont Avenue.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30)
days after the date of its first publication.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
3rd day of March , 1981.
