Green , ���� Mr. Chairman F Result AN ORDINANCE - _- - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Sections 1855, 1858, 1870, 1871 and 1882 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1920, re- lating to traffic and travel on streets. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Sections 1855, 1858, 1870, 1871 and 1882 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1920, relating to traf- fic and travel on streets be, and the same are to be amended so as to read as follows: Section 1855. CONGESTED DISTRICT. There is hereby desig- nated a congested district which shall be all streets and parts of streets within the following boundaries, to-wet: Commencing at the intersection of the east line of West Temple with the sl.reet center line of South Temple/; thence east along the center line of South Temple Street to the Brigham Young Monument, thence north to the north line of South Temple Street, thence east on the north line of South Temple Street to the northwest corner of the intersection of South Temple Street and State Street; thence south to the center of South Temple Street; thence east along the center line of South Temple Street 451 feet; thence south to the center line of Fourth South Street to a point 27g feet west of the west line of Second East Street; thence west to the east line of State Street; thence south to the southeast corner of the intersection of State Street and { Fourth South Street; thence west along the south line of Fourth 166 { I f � I I I South Street to the east line of West Temple Street; thence north to the place of beginning. Provided that all speed regulations applicable to the congested district shall be held to cover the north side of South Temple Street between Main and West Temple Streets; the north side of South Templ feet east of the west line of State Street; the south side of Fourth South Street from the east line of State 2-77 Street to a point 249 feet west from the west line of Seconi East Street, and both sides of West Temple Street from the south line of Fourth South Street to the north line of South Temple Street. SECTION 1858. WHISTLES. NOISES. Siren whistles shall not be used on any vehicles etcept those operated by the Police Department, Fire Department, Sheriff and authorized Public Utility vehicles when on emergency calls, nor shall any person operating or in charge of any motor vehicle create any unnecessary noises. SECTION 1870. HOW LONG Id.Y STAND. No person shall, be tween the hours of nine o'clock A. M. and six o'clock P. M. except on Sundays and legal holidays, allow any vehicle to stand longer than two hours upon any street in the congeste. district. Provided that regularly licensed practitioners of medicine, who are subject to emergency calls, and dis- playing the caducepus in a conspicuous place on their auto- mobile and paying the annual fee herein provided may be per- mitted to park not to exceed three hours on any street in the congested district at places where parking is not pro- hibited. Ne peracn shall display the caducepus on any automobile upon the streets of Salt Lake City without first having paid an annual fee of $5.00 and having received from the Chief of Police of Salt Lake City a permit showing the name, office address a auto license number of such person,'. , which permit shal be good for one year. It shall be unlawful for any person other than a regu- -2- I E i I I ', laxly licensed practitioner of medicine holding a permit hereunder to display a caduceOus in a conspicuous place upon any automobile upon the streets of Salt Lake City. SECTION 1871. HOW TO APPROACH CURB. Every person in charge of a vehicle shall, in the congested district, in parking such vehicle, approach the curb at an angle of 45 degrees and in such a manner that the front right hand wheel of such vehicle shall, when stopped, be approximately fifteen inches from the curb, and no part of such vehicle less than three feet from the nearest part of any other ve- hicle standing at the curb, provided it shall be unlawful to park any car on any street less than four rods in width, except parallel with the curb. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle with any wheel of the same in any gutter. 4ECTION 1882. SIGNALLING WHEN ABOUT TO STOP, TURN OR BACK. Every person in charge of a vehicle when about to stop, shall signal persons in charge of vehicles in the rea by raising the hand, and in case such person is about to to n off the street or turn around, he shall indicate to persons in charge of vehicles in the rear with his hand the directi in which he proposes to turn. Automatic signaling .devices must be used where impracticable to use hand. No person in charge of a vth icle shall back the same without ample warn- ing having been given by him; and while backing unceasing vigilance must be exercised not to injure persons or property in the rear. SECTION II. In the opinion of the Board of Commission- rs, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the in- labitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance shall take effect mmediately. SECTION III.
