AN ORDI N Result AN ORDINANCE REPEALING paragraph (c) of Section 6116 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to parking vehicles, and amending said Section 6116 by adding in and to said section four new paragraphs to be known as (f), (g), (h) and (i); and amending Section 6118 of said ReVised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, as amended by an ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City on the 16th day of July, 1947, by amending sub-paragraph (3) of said Section, re- lating to traffic and travel on streets. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION I. That paragraph (c) of Section 6116 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to parking vehicles, be and the same is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. That Section 6116 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to parking vehicles, be and the same is hereby amended by adding in and to said Section four new paragraphs to be known as (f), (g), (h) and (i),which shall read as follows: "(f) The Chief of Police is hereby directed to erect signs indicating no parking upon any public or private street within the business districts of said city when the width of such roadway does not exceed 20 feet, or upon one side of a street as indicated by such signs when the width of the roadway does not exceed 30 feet. (g) When official signs prohibiting parking are erected upon narrow streets as authorized in paragraph (f) herein, no person shall park a vehi?cle upon any such street in viola- -2- tion of any such sign. (h) The Chief of Police is hereby authorized, subject to the approval of the City Commission, to designate by proper signs places not exceeding 100 feet in length in which the stopping, standing or parking of vehicles would create an especially hazardous condition or would cause unusual delay in traffic. (i) When official signs are erected at hazardous or con- gested places as authorized herein no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle in any such designated place." SECTION 3. That Section 6118 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake'City, Utah, as amended by an ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City on the 16th day of July, 1947, relating to traffic and travel on streets, be and the same is hereby amended by amending sub-paragraph (3) thereof, which sub- paragraph (3) shall read as follows: "(3) If the vehicle to be parked is over 21 feet in length; provided, however, that a vehicle over 21 feet in length may back into a designated parking place at the proper angle in any business district for the sole purpose of load- ing or unloading such vehicle between the hours of 6 o'clock p. m. and 9 o'clock a. m. of any day, but not otherwise." SECTION 4. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
