This ordinance will be published in the Deseret News April 19, 1980, and eiball take effect upon publication. Whitehead, Chairman 211 City and County Building Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Council Members: Upon motion of Councilmember DePaulis, the Salt Lake City Council at its meeting this day, rescinded Bill No. 17 of 1980, an ordinance amending Section 0-3-4 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, establishing uniform closing hours for all establishments, including restaurants, which are licensed to hold public dances on their premises between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. The City Council also approved that a former ordinance, Bill No. 19 of 1974, be reinstated by the City Council in its meeting of April 17, 1980, to become effective upon its first publication, and that the City Council study this matter for a period of thirty (30)days. Upon motion of Councilmember Shearer, the Salt Lake City Council at its meeting this day, referred this ordinance to the Public Safety Committee to be reconsidered in the City Council meeting to be held Thursday. Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 9-3-4 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to dance regulations, be, and the same hereby is, amended as follows: Sec. 9-3-4. Proscribed hours. It shall be unlawful for any person to permit, allow, conduct or maintain any dance or dancing within a dance hall licensed by this title, or within any restaurant, tavern or private club licensed to conduct public dancing on its premises, between the hours of 1:00 o'clock a.m. and 8:00 o'clock a.m. of any day from November 1 to April 30, inclusive, or between the hours of 2:00 o'clock a.m. and 8:00 o'clock a.m. of any day from May 1 to October 31, inclusive, regardless of whether daylight savings time may be in force and effect; provided, however, that as an exception to the foregoing, dancing may be permitted to continue until 2:00 o'clock a.m. on New Year's Day.
