V _ I I�, Mr.Chairman Result AN ORDINANCE An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property in the territory between Third South and Ninth South, and Ninth East and Thirteenth East Streets, in Paving District No. 27, for the purpose of providing for the grading, curbing and guttering thereof, and constructing drainage system therein. Be it ordhined by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described in Paving District No. 27, for the purpose of providing for the grading, curbing and guttering thereof, and constructing drainage system therein, to-wit: In Lots 1, and 22 to 40, inclusive, Block 2; 2 to 21, inclusive, Block 1, Ehrich's Subdivision of Block 23; 12 to 22, inclusive, Block 2; 1 to 11, inclusive, Block 1, Steel's Sub- division of Block 18; 1 to 8, inclusive, Block 2; 17 to 24, in- clusive, Block 1, East Bench Subdivision of Block 18; 1 to 13, inclusive, Block 2; 1 to 13, inclusive, Block 1. Sylvan Park Subdivision of Block 11; Maass 2 and 3, Block 11; 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7, Block 14; 11 to 18, inclusive, Douglas Place Subdivision of Block 14, all in Plat "F", Salt Lake City Survey, abutting on both sides of Douglas Street between Third South and Fifth South Streets; end on both sides of Elizabeth Street between -1- 170 , Fifth South and Seventh South Streets. This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading, curbing ' and guttering with cement, and constructing drainage system of cement, vitrified, corrugated and wrought iron pipe from six (6) inches to twenty-four (24) inches in diameter, upon the portions of the streets opposite the property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited by said improve-; ment, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax herebylevied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portions of said streets front- ing upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of, land is eleven thousand two hundred ninety and 70/100 (411,290.70) dollars, or two and 30/100 ($2.30) dollars per front or linear 'j foot of abutting property for thirty-six (36) foot roadway, therer being 4909 feet of abutting property within the boundaries of the, 'i lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said district, which is the total cost and cost per front foot of said improvement, according to the contract entered into for the performance of said work and making said improvement, with H. G. Gilkerson, 1 dated the 20th day of May, 1914, and the Treasurer is hereby authorised and directed to assess, in accordance with the provi- sions li of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned: Thirty-six Foot Roadway. Hof the south 120 feet of Lot 2, Block 11; the east side of the 'west 297 feet of Lots 3 and 4, the east side of the west 297 feet , of the south 125 feet, and the east side of the west 297 feet of the north 28 feet of Lot 2, the west side of the east 280.5 feet , of the south 33 feet of Lot 6, the west side of the east 280.5 feet of Lot 7, Block 14; the west side of Lots 11 to 18, inclusivel, Douglas Place Subdivision of Block 14, all in Plat "F", Salt Lake , City Survey, as the same are shown upon the offioial plats of said city to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said streets, and to collect said tax. SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each installment is due, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one year after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such improvement becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in two years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in three years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in four years after said ordinance becomes effective; and one-fifth thereof in five years after said ordinance becomes effective. One' or more of said installments, in the order in which they are pay- able, or the whole special tax, may be paid at any time within thirty days after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax becomes effective, without interest. In the event of any install ment or the interest aforesaid not being paid on the date the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the -3- ; IItime said installment and interest are due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per! annum until the sale of the property assessed; provided, one or more installments, in the order in which they are payable, or the ' whole speoial tax unpaid, may be paid on the day any installment becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to said date.
